Auto DELETE ALL .CAMREC FILES AFTER PRODUCTION !

Everytime I create a screen capture recording, I will need to delete the ".camrec" file separately after producing the video! You guys should automatically delete it, or at least have an option to choose to delete it. It waste my time as I create MILLIONS of videos and I love Camtasia. I would kiss you guys to show it. :)

e.g. sad, anxious, confused, frustrated kidding, amused, unsure, silly happy, confident, thankful, excited indifferent, undecided, unconcerned

  • I think that would be a bad idea - In the camrecs is a lot of data that can be used to enhance future productions.

  • Hello,
Thanks for your feedback. We always appreciate hearing how people use our products.

However, I think I can safely say that we have gone to great lengths to ensure people will not ever be able to delete their .camrec files by accident! Or, for that matter, any files they work with.

So, while the dev team and product manager read these posts, I don't want you to get your hopes up on this feature request. Mainly because a feature like this could *REALLY* mess someone up if they ever forgot they had this option turned on.

As a work around, could you save all your recording/project files to one directory and then once a day/week/month/year go in and delete all of them?

Or, could you write a little script that would automatically look in that folder and delete the files?

Anyway, there are most likely lots of workarounds for this process.

Thanks again for your idea! We appreciate it.

  • It just dawned on me that you may have another option.
You can record your video as an .AVI file instead of the .camrec format.

With that option, you only get the raw video - not the ability to use SmartFocus, cursor effects ,etc.

However, if you just record and then produce right out of the gate, you might like the Record as an AVI option.

You can turn this on in Recorder > Tools > Options > General tab.

    I hope this helps!

    happy I’m thankful
    Hi Kelly,

May God bless you for the thoughtful reply. Often, I get replies from employees, even Google, with a template they copy and pasted. They assume very quickly everyone is dumb, so I will usually have to send my concern twice to highlight my issue is different, it's very irritating but such is life.

I understand the points you brought across. Camtasia had hanged on me before and I was pissed off creating the same video the second time. You could really tell from my voice in the second recording, unfortunately my voice could not be edited to a "happy" voice.

I'm already doing the suggestion you came up with. Deleting them routinely. I'm not that advance to create a script, but thank you for another option. Appreciate that.

Having a second reply from you goes to show you really thought through my queries, I hope you are rewarded for this! Yes I will try out a raw .avi video and see if it will help. Thanks again so much Kelly. You've made my day.

    Regards,
    Fan
P.S: You have a very cute name. :)
