    happy I’m thankful
I would like to create a series of tutorial videos. I want each course to contain a table of content separating each lesson. I also want when selected, the video to come out on a floating table. ie: www.macprovideos.com My question is: how do I create this in camtasia or do I need to use some other program? I thank you in advance for your assistance.

  • Earnest,

The Table of Contents thing is easy but can you explain what you mean by a "floating table"?

    Thanks.

  • I think you need more tutorials on moving, rearranging video tracks, You need to "fill-in the gaps" on new CS8 features. Also, some of these "one-off" videos done by Shane, dro and others need to be more easily discoved by providing links on the tutorials web page, The "Star Wars" rolling title tutorial also needs a link. Add the new markers tutorial on the blog. It is great to feature these on the blog, but you need a way for users to find them much later. There are also videos on creating intros that need to be featured on the tutorials page. I can remember Kelly Mullins doing one, but I would have to do a search on the Techsmith site to find it again.

    • Hi Richard,

Thanks for your feedback. In your ideal workflow, how would you access the links to all of the videos that we create? While the blog and Get Satisfaction are useful places to post content, we agree that it becomes difficult to find and return to that content as time passes. As we research potential solutions, I'd be very interested to hear any feedback that you might have about your process for seeking out tutorial content. You can either reply here, or to me directly at c.ryan@techsmith.com

      Thanks,

      Cait
    • I recommend perhaps having a "playlist" of videos that cover some "customer requests" that popup on Get Satisfaction - this playlist would include such videos as Shane's "New features in 8.04" and Dave"s "moving clips on the timeline" and Kelly's "Creating title clips with PowerPoint" - and the one on the "Star Wars rolling text scrollbar" and any time a new dot release is available adding a "What's new" continuing update. And the playlist would be version specific so the users have no confusion on why they can't do something in their older version.

Also I would recommend a series of tutorials on the process you use internally to create your tutorials - A tutorial on the tutorials -

silly I’m always learning but wish the playing field would stay similar
I'd like to see something about "standard order of operations" to get the best results from the automated features in the program. For example, I was working late last night and decided to add all the splits to the video so I could go in today and add the narration. Today I realized that I should have turned on the SmartFocus and done all that before I did my splits.

I have been a Camtasia user since version 3, but it is an "accessory" to what I do and I wish I used it often enough to remember stuff like this. I am NOT a full time video presentation producer :-) But Camtasia has been with me along the way and I watch the tutorials to pick up new techniques as well as learn new features of the program. And boy does it STINK when you do learn something from a previous version (like the extend clip option when you were recording naration in Version 7 and maybe even earlier) and now its GONE. But I've already posted that in another forum :-)

Because I am not a full time user, I find the videos the have been posted to this forum as well as the tutorial videos, to be an invaluable asset to owning this program. It is one of the reasons that I continue to invest in the upgrades. Just thought I would say THANK YOU!
    • Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad to hear that the tutorial videos and this community have been of such great use to you.

I'm interested in your idea about the "standard order of operations." If you have the time, would you be willing to answer a couple questions? As a non "full-time" user, what are the main features that you end up using frequently that would be most useful to include in such a video? Also, do you imagine this being a broader video that shows more of when to do something rather than how to do it? Or, would it be more helpful to have the how blended in? Feel free to respond here, or to shoot me an email at c.ryan@techsmith.com.

      Thanks!
