sad I’m meh,

captions background is layed over my introduction title?

My title gets blocked by my caption background, how do I get rid of the caption background while my title is being shown?

My intro title is a screen cap of the illustrator software program opening graphic.
However the brown caption overlay is blocking the bottom of the title.
how do I remove this?

If I change it in captions, it changes it for all the captions. I want this as the background for my caption text, but not where my titles have been placed at the beginning of the clip...

    **
also I found that rendering out an mpeg4 for "web" removed my captions completely?

  • use a callout set to look like a caption wher the title screen shows; you can have text [opaque] and a background tint.

viewer will not be able to see difference

I have made many videos using just these "callout captions" instead of normal captions; and they can be positioned anywhere; but they are not hidable by viewer

Kayakman not sure what a call out set is,

I imported the title image via the callout tab, thought that would cover the caption background colour at the bottom of my video, but it doesnt work,

can you show me a screen capture of where a callout set is,

not sure what a callout caption is,,
as can be seen from my screen cap ive added the title, and imported the title as a callout image, but the caption still overlays both...
    • what I intended was that you use a callout and set it up so it looks like a caption

a callout caption is my term for a callout that is used in place of a caption

      see this example project ...

      http://cookbookplus.com/videos/TimeVa...

here, I made the project, then decided to add captions [what narration was]; but I needed to move captions around so they did not mess up look of video; so I made a callout template, added it to Library, and then used speech recognition to turn existing narration into text directly into the callout; these bubble callouts had opaque text and light backgrounds

FYI, you can set captions background to be any density and color if that helps

I do many videos where I set no background for captions so video [photos] look best; or sometimes a 20% transparency at most
    • thats freakin hilarious that video !!!! :D HAHAHA

yep I can adjust the background colour to completely transparent, however that changes it for the whole video, I Just wanted it transparent over the title clips in the beginning, ,

great work Kayakman, you really have taken camtasia to the max.

  • Hi,

With the newly released Camtasia Studio 8, the way caption backgrounds appear in your video has been improved. While the background was always present in Camtasia Studio 7, now the background only appears when the caption text is showing. You can still position the text to appear in the specific places you want it to show, but the background will only be drawn in the immediate area around the text and only when there is text.

Here is a quick video illustrating what I mean: http://www.screencast.com/t/ejcGyk0rZ5zR

The What’s New page shows more of the new features and capabilities in Camtasia Studio.

We hope you will try Camtasia Studio 8, and let us know what you think about this feature or anything else you'd be willing to share!

    Sincerely,
    Dave

  • Meg Houston
I am trying to avoid the same problem that the original poster is having. I am working with Camtasia 7.1.1 and am trying to add callouts instead of using captions. However, I need to change the background color of the callouts and have not been able to - the options to edit the fill or border are grayed out. With my version, am I not able to change the background color for a callout? Please help!

  • Are you using text callouts? then not possible [no bachground property for text callouts]

maybe use a rounded filled rectangle

    sad I’m disappointed
I feel for you camtasia888... My captions are all screwy now. I have to import my video and manually figure out the dimensions for adding caption to the bottom.
Also note, you still cannot add any callouts on top of your caption :( I miss this option dearly.
