Crash accessing NAS files; where may I find updates to camtasia 8?

I see there is an update 8.0.1 release to the 8.0.0 version I have installed and registered. When I click on Help -> Update the popup gives no link to download any updates. I have experienced a few crashes when accessing a large camrec file stored on my NAS, and 8.0.1 lists a possible fix. How do I access this maintenance release?

    Hi Mark,

For the update, you can try re-downloading the installer directly from our website if the updater isn't letting you upgrade to 8.0.1.

It's important to note, though, that we don't officially support or recommend editing projects with external media and/or projects on network storage themselves. I understand that working with video files can be a pain under space limitations, but the read/write speed limitations over a network can make editing and producing an inevitable hassle.

If at all possible, we recommend keeping your project files on a local disk while you're working with them. When you're done with the project, you can regain the space by exporting the project as a ZIP to the network drive and removing the staging files.

Hope this helps! Sorry for the trouble.

The upgrade has not failed when opening a large camrec file over GbE. Understand the preference for having camrec files on local disk, and working to create space on an HDD to support these large camrecs, then archive them off when complete.
