Does Camtasia let you choose aspect ratio?
I'm trying to import videos shot in widescreen format. Whenever I do that, Camtasia automatically converts them to a 4:3 ratio. Once that happens my video looks very compressed and squeezed together. I've consulted help guides and google but haven't found anything. I'd love some guidance.

Camtasia does let you select your own aspect ratio. It's managed in two places.
First, you want to set the correct Project Settings. Up above the video preview window there is button that provides your video dimensions. You want to make sure that these dimensions are correct for your video and have the aspect ratio you want. The default is 640x480, which is not widescreen.
The other place to check for problems with aspect ratio is with the zoom-n-pan tools. Those can be found on the left-hand side under the Edit heading. Same story here, make sure that the settings you are using align with the aspect ratio you're aiming for.
In general, Camtasia doesn't (yet) tell you what your aspect ratio is, you'll have to figure it and set it yourself using the project dimension options.Comment -

Hi, any updates on this? I'm trying to produce a video in 960x540 for my company website but I can't get rid of the black bars on top and bottom--even after ensuring both project settings and production settings. How can I get rid of the black bars?
