I am using the spotlight and blur callouts in Camtasia 8 (Win7, 64-bit). There seems to be a quick "flicker" right before the spotlight/blur appears on the screen. It's like a quick flash of the callout, then the callout fades in smoothly. It doesn't seem to happen on any other callout I have used. I have tired it in my other projects, and it is happening in all of them.
I have tried moving the callouts and replacing them. Is there a fix to this? It makes my work look unprofessional, and this is unacceptable.
I am really starting to regret upgrading to Camtasia 8.

I've noticed this exact same problem in my projects. I thought that I had a wrong setting, or that I was missing something. I'm glad I'm not crazy.
Hope it gets fix in a maintenance release. -

Well, I guess since this isn't getting answered, it must be a problem. Can this get changed over to a Problem to possibly get addressed?

Yes - I experience the same issue. Must have been added after the Beta testers had finished testing it.

Hi,
I switched this to a problem and will make sure the team is aware of these reports. Thank you,

Hi again,
This is confirmed as bug and we plan to fix it in the next maintenance.
Thanks for the report, and we're really sorry for the trouble.
Mike Curtis-
When do you plan to release this next maintenance? Seems like quite a critical bug to me...

Is there an estimate timeframe as to when the next maintenance will be available? Thanks.

As a workaround, I place a FADE transition at the flicker point. This seems to cure it 99% of the time.

Where the SPOTLIGHT or BLUR callout is used, I ensure there is a split point on the main CamRec track. I place a FADE transition over this SPLIT point (despite it not needing one because it's only there to make the callouts work. I've found this works for me pretty much all the time.

yea you can put a callout on the front and back of a callout- another score for C8!

This is really a shame. Since I have updated to version 8 I had nothing but trouble with camtasia. The flickering, random crashes an often I loose the ability to scale or move call-outs. I then have to restart camtasia to get camtasia to work again.
Luckily I'm using the trial version at this point, since I will certainly not buy the product when it is this unstable. -

THANK YOU! I just updated Camtasia Studio to version 8.0.2, re-produced the output video, and VOILA...the flickering before spotlight and blur callouts has vanished.
It makes the video SO much smoother. Thanks for listening and fixing this.
Camatasia Studio is a GREAT product. -
