This article provides a method for capturing and saving from SnagIt to SharePoint (using free express edition of OnePlaceMail):

It does not appear, from the instructions, that you can save the file as an editable .snag file to a SharePoint location. Is that possible? I have a need to save a .snag file to a SharePoint folder for additional editing (including deleting existing "graphics") at a later date - up to a year later. I need to amke sure the image is not "flattened" making the objects un-selectab;e after it is saved. Thoughts?

Still no news huh? I use SnagIt extensively at work, and we're moving into SharePoint. I was REALLY disappointed to find that I can't simply save directly to a SharePoint Picture Library. Office and several other programs have had such functionality for a long time!
