I recorded a 2 hour video that generated a 1.8 GB .camrec file. How can I split the .camrec file into two in order to send the first 15 mins to a friend so he can use the smaller .camrec file to incorporate in a different video he is producing? Thanks John

Select the clip on the timeline, place the playhead at the location you want the split to occur, and hit the "split" icon which is located just above the timelime. You can then render the selected portion and import the rendered movie into the other project.

Thanks Richard for your prompt response.
I've not done this before, so am not sure of the procedure. I wanted to give my friend a (smaller) camrec file, so he would have complete freedom in how he wanted to produce it. If I understand you correctly you are suggesting that I render his section and send him that, which I believe would mean finding out exactly what screensize and other parameters he wanted to use and then use that here when I render his section. What would be the best type of output to give him?

You need to render to a format which is importable into Camtasia, which should be either mp4 or avi. You want to make sure you both use the same dimensions, otherwise his final output will have black borders.

Alternatively, you can zip up your entire project within Camtasia and let him do the work on his end.

Hello Richard, I am very perplexed.I am working with an assistant who must download all source video files to her mac. I have a mac as well. She lives 30 miles away and we work remotely. How can she work on the videos I upload to her in her camtasia and then I'll come back and review, do any final touches to the edit, add titles, music, etc. to finally export the file to You Tube & Vimeo - all WITHOUT any loss of video quality? Currently our workflow has been me taking an initial look at all of our footage; deleting the clips I don't want her to edit and then exporting out from iMovie (at the moment she doesn't have camtasia). I upload these clips to Google Drive or drop box; she downloads, edits; I then re-download and bring into camtasia for the final titling, music, etc. - We probably would continue in iMovie, but you can't do the cool titling as you can in camtasia.... So....with all of that import/export uploading... the quality of our final video is HORRIBLE. What I am hoping is that camtasia has a cloud environment so that I can upload my files for her and we can edit collaboratively and not lose any quality. If that is the case, I would stop using iMovie and start and end my projects ALL in camtasia - since I love it so much!! Is there any hope?? We have SO many videos on a weekly basis, this is urgent. Any feedback so greatly appreciated!!!
