Put all new clips sequentially on only one track (add an option)

I usually record many short clips; with CS7 they were inserted sequentially to form one longer sequence on the time line; this was fine to keep total length in control, for example.

Now, if I don't miss something, we obtain a new track for every recording: insane to manage! I understand that the new behaviour could meet some (most?) user needs but at least add an option so that we can choose the old method.
