Scroll wheel in Camtasia 8 doesn't scroll timeline horizontally?
Just downloaded CS8 and really like it so far. However, my scroll wheel is not scrolling the timeline horizontally like it did in CS7. Is there a way to re-enable this? Or am I missing something?

As some others have already pointed out, we were able to fit in a few small requests with the 8.0.2 maintenance release, including horizontal scrolling via SHIFT + Scroll. We hope that this addresses the main issue mentioned in this thread for everyone. We greatly appreciate everyone's feedback. Please continue to let us know what things we can improve.

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding.
Confirmed that yes that is missing now. But thank you for the feedback. I agree that it would be a very useful thing to have working. We will take note of this usability issue and consider it for a future release.
If you have any other feedback or workflow issues that you'd like to see change please continue to let us know! We want to make Camtasia Studio be as easy to use possible.

Hi Caleb,
Thanks for the feedback! The timeline will still scroll if you hold the CTRL key down and use the scrollwheel. Sorry about the extra step. If it doesn't appear to be scrolling, try clicking somewhere on the timeline to make sure it has focus. -

Hmm, on my computer, CTRL+Scroll Wheel zooms the time line as it did in CS7 (which I also used frequently).
It appears the horizontal scrolling feature got broken since CS7... -

Caleb,
You are correct Ctrl + scroll wheel will zoom the timeline and is different than just scrolling the timeline up and down. But we do have that feature too.
But like David had said, sometimes the timeline doesn't get focus, so it helps to click around on it, specifically try clicking over in the track name area. See if this video helps http://www.screencast.com/t/LgnpWcl483Un
Hope this helps solve your issue.
Cheers

Hi Brandon,
Yes, the timeline does scroll vertically when I roll the mouse wheel.
However, this is a change in behavior from CS7 where the timeline scrolled horizontally.
If this was a premeditated change (mouse wheel scrolling vertically instead of horizontally), may I request that you provide an option to switch the behavior back to horizontal mouse wheel scrolling for those that are used to it.
Horizontal mouse wheel scrolling is really an integral part of my workflow. I don't mind grabbing the scroll bar with the mouse when I occasionally need to scroll vertically in a Camtasia project... -

Ed,
Thanks for the feedback!
We have switched this thread type to an "idea" so that we can track the number of people who want this feature re-implemented. We take user feedback very seriously, So if others are in need of this feature being implemented, I would encourage them to "like" or vote for it, and that will help us prioritize the importance of this feature.
Cheers

In CS7 I found handy to scroll on the timeline with the mouse wheel. It seems that now is no more possible: is there a motivation for this?

Mouse wheel no more useful. -

Completely agree. This affects our workflow by a lot

Following Kelly Mullins' post here, I'm glad to say that 4 great requested features/fixes are indeed added/improved in 8.0.2:
1) Horizontal scrolling with SHIFT+Scroll
2) Undo/redo buttons
3) Tooltip for duration of a range selection on the timeline
4) Improved production rendering performance
Thank you for listening to your users. This shows that you listen and is very appreciated. The horizontal scrolling feature is what kept the place I work at using the demo and we will be purchasing Camtasia Studio 8 at this point. -
