Seems to me to be fairly straightforward. Many tasks performed within the context of a Mac/PC translate almost verbatim to an iPad context. For example, creating help documentation for an application you are developing for the iPad. iPad makes it easy to take a screen shot (Home + Power button). iOS, I'm guessing, would prohibit an application from trapping that sequence but opening up the screenshot from the photo library should be fairly simple (like almost all photo editing apps do in their workflows).
I'm really surprised this hasn't been developed by TechSmith. Again, a no brainer. -

I would for sure get it if there was an Ipad version of Snagit. I can't live without it on my PC and miss it all the time when on my iPad.
Features like screen capture profiles such as region, window, full screen and then the ability to edit the captured image in SnagiT editor are a must ;-)
Thanks for the great work -
-
Being able to capture regions to the clipboard for pasting into other applications (pages, numbers, etc) would be awesome.
-
-
Specifically, I'd like the web page capture mode - where you could take a screenshot - not just of the screen itself, but of an entire full-length webpage.
-
-
Also the ability to highlight a specific area of the screen. I'm thinking this could happen by:
- Drag around area
- Click on specific page elements (DIVs, images, etc) -
-
And of course, the ability to take those screenshots and share them however I want - email, facebook, etc. It would be cool to offer Dropbox and other cloud type integration as well.
-
-
Personally, I never edit images in Snagit - only grab things and send them over to Photoshop. As an experience designer, I create web pages and applications on all sorts of platforms. The iPad is the latest out there - and it's very unwieldy to get screenshots of long documents right now.
-
-
We are happy WIN desktop users. Things we would want to do are: line drawing/shape drawing, labels (including boxes), callouts/stamps (we like the stars), integration with Dropbox (if possible) or else ability to email completed pix. Finally, it would be nice to have file save options (Snag-it file, jpg, png, and so forth).

I've used snagit for 20 years I believe... at least for a long long time and not having it on my iPad makes me feel that I left my best tool on the work bench instead of having it with me.

Totally agree. Don't pass up a chance to make a few bucks and expand the SnagIt universe. I am lost on an Ipad2 without it
-
-
I whole-heartedly agree. I have SnagIt on both my lap tops and sons desktop, but not on iPad... yet.... I have tried Numerous apps that say they have SOME OF THE SAME ABILITIES I'm looking for, but NOT all of them. I'd like the last version I bought - believe it was 10? Ideally I want the same program I have on all my other device to now be available for use on my iPad2 :) And happy to pay full price for it if it's as in depth as 9 & 10 versions were. Thanks! :). jcofortco@gmail.com

Yes....just got iPad & SnagIt being the BEST screen capture software is HUGELY missed! Please make it happen Techsmith!

there is no great picture editor on ipad. Ability to snag something, put it in keynote, send it to email or MMS, or post on social media sites. Look techsmith. Lemme know if i can be a beta tester! twitter.com/izuby

Hi,
There is no App in the App Store that even comes close to SnagIt functionality. Search App Store under "screen shots" and you get 4 Apps!
I'm addicted to SnagIt! It would add to the iPad experience -
-
there are about 2000 people a month searching for iPhone screen recorder. The only app available to do this is a Cydia jail breaking app.
There is definitely potential for such an application. I am posting this because I wanted to record and show people how to blog from an iPhone using the iBlogger app.
As a web design and development company, we are constantly having to set up new email addresses for clients and it would save me money if i could video email set up on the iPhone
I also use the Keynote iPad to "pitch" and present to people. I have created some great templates. Again show people how to create and present on the iPad.
My kids have the iTouch and they are constantly googling how to get through different levels on games they play. You just need to go onto Youtube and search for how to videos on nintendo games etc
If anyone can develop this app, Techsmith can :)

iPhone screen recorder.-
Totally agree that Techsmith is the leader in this kind of application and I trust them. I want them to build APPS we can use for our workflow.

I am a 'frequent user' from the SnagIt for PC and find it very useful whenever I need to highlight a specific region of a document or picture. The features of spotlightning areas or to cut a region and then frame it is really useful in my daily work. Aso the option of inserting comments on a capture has proven to be very useful too (f.e. when sending text corrections).
I simply wish I could do exactly the same with my iPad2, where the above fratures should be a must. -
-
I don't want Snagit for the iPad or iPhone, I can just hit the menu button & power button to capture the screen.
No, I want screen recording capabilities like Camtasia. Wondering why my post got moved into this thread.-
Hello Fraser, Sorry your post got merged incorrectly. I'm afraid we can't "un-merge" something once the action is taken. The best I could do was paste it back as a reply here: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...
It's not graceful, but at least all the right TechSmith employees will see it. Sorry about that! -
-
Hi Fraser,
Once you capture the screen, how do you paste it somewhere else? e.g. Keynote -
-

Having been a pc SnagIt user for some time, I am lost not being able to do screen captures and drawing tools/annotation that I am used to. Nothing in the market seems to fill the bill.
-
-
Thanks TechSmith. Already loaded AND used!
Finally a software company that listens to its customers wants and provides it. Not one that just gives (sells) what THEY want us to have. -

2This is probably overkill for those of you just wanting to do a simple still image capture on your iPad, but in another thread we've had a discussion about how to capture video from your tablet. I made a short video and posted it on our blog, detailing how to go about doing this. Again, maybe overkill for simple image captures, but it will indeed work just like video does with Camtasia Studio and/or Jing (just use Snagit to capture a still image, instead of a video).

Ah yes, BUT does not work for iPad 1...only for 2. I am an early adopter and have iPad and will wait now for iPad 3 before moving on.

Can't argue with that logic! :)

All of you echo my thoughts on this topic. I too would like SnagIt for the iPad to seamlessly connect to both DropBox AND Evernote. That combination would be unbeatable!

Cherstinane, at this time we do not publish a Snagit app for mobile devices. We certainly love to hear from customers who are interested in having it available!
Have you tried any other image editing apps for iPad? We would be interested to know what you like or don't like about them if you have, and any suggestions for what features would be useful to you.
Apple is working on its next big version of iOS, v5, and they have announced that some image editing tools will be built-in, and again- once that is out we are interested to know what gaps or additional functionality a Snagit app would take care of for you.
We do have an app called Screenchomp for iPad, you can find that on the App Store and try it out, and certainly send us feedback about how you like it. -
-
I used iScreenshots. It does not do anything more than the home+power button on the iPhone. I am trying ScreenChimp. The annotation tools are nice but not quite as professional as SnagIt. But I like it.
-
-
I use snagit for Mac and PC. I searched for an iPad version this weekend. I needed to purchase 2 iPad apps to do what I typically do with Snagit (crop & annotate/highlight). I would purchase Snagit for iPad
-
-
There is a Mac App now called “Skitch” that seems to work like Snagit, and they say they will have an IOS version soon. Snagit should hurry or Skitch will get the iPad business. I agree with the other comments, I’m using my iPad more and more instead of my notebook computer, and Snagit would be very helpful to me in capturing and annotating different materials to send out by email.
-
Not a chance Skitch broke their app with an update that took all the goodness out
-

I'll not reiterate what was already said but I also was looking for an iPad version of Snagit. Hope it comes soon.
-
-
Ditto what's been said above. I trust Snag it / Tech Smith and would use for work and home. I use the editor as well as screen capture. An example for home use would be to document a garden - labeling plants with link to online KB or document on my iPad. There are multiple apps out there that could be used together to achieve part of what snag it does, but nothing that is single snag it solution.
-
-
Use snag it allot on my pc, now have a Mac pro and I phone and pad, really need it, how soon?
-
-
I agree. Would really like to have a simple version of Snag It for iPad2. I need to capture portions of the overall screen and to have the option to save either to clipboard or to a graphics file like .jpg at a user-selected percent, just like in one of the early versions of Snag It for Windows. Are you working on providing something like this?
-
-
Will there be a Snagit App for the iPad any time soon? Many of us are waiting!!!!

I use snagit daily on windows and Mac. I am using skitch on iPad. It is working well for me but could really use some more snagit features
-

After reading all these posts about wanting a snagit app I am confused why they have not created one yet?????? If anyone from TechSmith is reading these posts clearly there is enough people requesting this. How many more requests do you really need
-
-
Hi Techsmith - I've used Snagit for over 15 years in one form or another - and have paid full price, out of pocket if necessary if my current employer would not reimburse - it's that important of a tool. On the iPad I would like to see the following:
1. Screen portion capture - not the whole page, just part of it. This can save lots of time instead of capturing the whole page and then going into an image editing app too trim it down to size.
2. Capture menus, etc. I'm a UX designer, so being able to capture the "nuts and bolts" of an interaction is important for documentation.
3. Save the file to virtual location - make it easy to get the images off the iPad and to a sharable space - I'd personally love a dropbox integration. Snag on the ipad and they are on a shared folder on any of the machines I use.
The other stuff, for me, can come later (timed capture, set starting point, scrolling capture, etc.). I'll buy each upgrade :)
Camtasia would be amazing to have - especially as I'm moving into mobile UX design and usability testing - this is a HUGE market, and everyone I know is already relying heavily on Camtasia to track user experience on PCs. If you could tie in the built-in camera to track audio and user facial expressions? Wow!

Is there a date when snag it will be available for iPad. I would like same version as mac has. I wouldn't mind paying for additional licence. It just seams on the hand considering iPad is now introduced to offices, hospitals etc..
It would make my life easier rather than dragging laptop-
Use skitch for the iPad. It's free amd has the same functionality.
-
-
-
-
-
YES! I use Snagit now as an upgrade from Jing Pro. If I could record screen cap videos on my iPad, I would use Snagit 2-3 times every day!
thanks! -
-
Are you going to make Snagit available for Ipad (or tablets)? What about video capture (either Snagit or Camtasia) for Ipad/tablet - as computing seems to be migrating/evolving there. Due to limited storage space need to save the videos to cloud (your selected location - either a portal/dropbox/skydrive/or USB wireless (local). Please allow for using fingers or stylus as a "mouse" type device. - But would love to take my Snagit/Camtasia to my IPAD!

i'm a software tester and we use snag-it almost all day long for screen captures, training documentation, etc, we have recently added IPADs and IPHONES so I am dying without my snag-it. Any news on possibly when it might be available?

I have just purchased the iPad 3 and saw the YouTube video on how to capture screen video from iPad to pc recording through camtasia studio which I have, so I bought the hdmi conversion kit and am ready to test it out. I will let you all know how it turns out. Please stay tuned on my YouTube page (newdreamscreations). I really do wish there was a version of snagit for iPad 3 so I wouldn't have to go through this extra step though.
I have been a solid Techsmith customer for several years now, and I think you should add the avidly growing mobile group to your customer base.

I haven't read all prior posts on this topic, but you all should know that screen capture on an iPad is already available! Details below. Not to steal Techsmith's thunder, but Adobe already has a fabulous app that does editing of screen captures called Adobe Photoshop Touch. The only gotcha is that you need a minimum of an iPad 2.
DETAILED TECHNIQUE copied here by Googling:
Press and hold the home button (round button on front), quickly press/release the sleep button (at the top), now release the home button. The screen should flash.-
@enrique - Not the same feature set or workflows that SnagIt users would be looking for.

I'm not going to read the entries above, so this may be repetitive. Right now I use 3 different programs to capture, crop & comment on images, and I would love to use Snagit to roll all of those into one program.
Screen capture: power button & home buttons
Crop: Photo toaster
Comment: PhotoPen
The comment part is the most problematic for me, as I annotate photos frequently.
-
-
Martha: Try Skitch, you can crop and annotate. You can also crop right within the native photos app on the iPad now. Doodle Buddy is another one with more options. But I agree, Snagit would be the best. The two I mentioned are either too simple or too complex. And why learn yet another one when we know and love Snagit!
-
-
The new Evernote version of Skitch is an unintuitive mess. Really wish TechSmith could get an iPad version rolling soon. Sign me up for beta!!

Is there a mobile version of SnagIt for iPad and for android smartphone?
I have two favourite 'minor' computer applications, one of which is SnagIt. I use it every day as a university teacher, in communication with students, in making teaching materials, and in administration. And I'm constantly reaching for it when on my tablet and my Samsung Galaxy....waaaaaaahhh
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
The snag with SnagIt ...no app version!!. -

what I like about snagit are two things:
1 pixel perfection in capturing. I tried different capture programs for Mac and none gives me the kind of result that gives me snagit
2. the ability to capture any web site with vertical scroll on an iPad would be great to have this kind of images.
Those would be my suggestions for snagit application for ipad.
I'm a web designer and I spend much of my time to take screenshots with snagit for mac. -
