Videos after trial ends

If I create video tutorials using the free trial to Camtasia and embed them on my website, will I lose them when the trial ends? I've used Jing and other screencast tools in the past, but know Camtasia is the best. Every year I submit a PO hoping my school will subscribe to Camtasia, but it's always turned down. But with the focus on flipped classrooms, I thought I'd really learn how to use it over the summer. I just don't want to lose all this work!

    Hello Pamela,

The videos remain even after the trial expires. One detail is the trial is supposed to be used for evaluation purposes only so I hope this year your school will come through. :) Let us know if we can help. Have you seen the educational pricing? https://store.techsmith.com/education...

Do you have any ideas for materials or content we could have that might help you make your case with the purchasers?

Lastly, have you by chance seen this Ning community full of educators interested or implementing some sort of flipped class? http://vodcasting.ning.com/

Thanks for posting, and have a great summer!

Thank you! How long will the discount on educational subscriptions be in effect? I will drop off my PO at school next week, then it takes awhile to make it through the system. Fingers are crossed - now that I understand how to use this, I am really liking Camtasia. I am teaching a tech course next week, and screencasting and flipped classrooms are segments of the course. I think I can definitely make the case this year.

One more quick question: even with a full subscription to Camtasia, will I only have access to 2GB of Screencast space? I don't think the school would support the storage upgrade (yet), so I'll need to plan this out.

Thanks again for the quick reply and the assistance :-)

Good news! We don't have any plans to do away with the educational pricing. (I suppose it could change in terms of the percentage off, etc. but it'll be there.)

Screencast.com storage is separate, but we can probably get a sense for the size and number of views your videos will be getting to see if the monthly bandwidth limit could be an issue. Have you made a "typical" video? If so, what's the file size? How many times would you guess students would watch it? We can play with the production settings and get the file size quite small.

I'll be here if you have any more questions!

After MANY project edits, I finally have a very short (17 second) and relatively small (1.47MB) video. But I learned how to do a lot tonight! I'll be working a lot more with Camtasia over the next few days. I guess I'll worry more about the storage when I finally get my subscription. Now I have to get over my fear of the microphone. But I am really impressed with the product :-)
