We have got inconsistent results in Chrome with our scrolling. If the all in one scrolling is not working I would recommend using Custom Scroll or the Snagit Printer. Here's a video on custom scroll.

Hi mrcatman9,
don't waste your time trying to have scrolling capture working fine in FF. TechSmith is stuck to Microsoft thus not interested in having Snagit working with FF. Mozilla improves its browser quarterly, i.e. 4 times a year while Microsoft releases a new version of IE about once every two years. Techsmith is not fast enough for keeping Mozilla's pace.
You have several BETTER alternative depending if you do care about saving a (heavy) graphic file for any Web scrolling capture. Faststone is one of them.
Another one is to install to IETab 2 extension in FF to have a true IE behavior in FF. But you have to install IE on your PC. And Activating IE behavior with the IETab feature for a give tab in FF will make scrolling captures to work fine anytime for that tab in the active FF session. But activating IE behavior will reload the page before making the scrolling capture possible.
And if you don't care about having a picture as a capture, you can use the Scrapbook/Scrapbook+ extension. You may prefer this one because saved pages are far smaller in size, there are true Web pages that can be indexed and even edited within Scrapbook (HTML code provided by a really friendly GUI)! For Web captures, this utility is far far better and powerful than Snagit. Filing, editing, indexing, tagging, commenting, exporting, etc. are powerful features in Scrapbook. And it's free but you are welcome to give some bucks to the developer ;)
I have given up with Snagit and I remain stuck with version 9. Improvements are very few with new versions and I can save some money discarding upgrades. I save a lot of time trying to have buggy releases working properly (remember first patches for version 10!)
Happy new year to every one. Quite soon here in France ;) -

it doesn't work in Opera either. This is annoying, as I assume web page capturing is the most common use case for the scrolling window feature.
No, custom scroll is no alternative, it is way more complicated and the good thing about SnagIt is that it's usually fast and easy.
SnagIt Printer obviously is of little use for web pages, as the print layout of them very often differs from the standard layout. -

I just captured some blog functions with the free system to test it out, couldn't scroll at first, but once the video is running I clicked outside the capture zone and was able to scroll without a problem throughout the video (mouse inside or outside the capture zone)... I scrolled using the mouse wheel... dunno if they fixed the problem or if it's just a case of reminding the comp what you want to scroll...

I'm using v 9.1.3 which doesn't work with Chrome or Firefox and it doesn't appear that ver. 10 does, either. I'm buy the upgrade when it works with Chrome.

Sharla, we are officially supporting Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows and Safari and Firefox on Mac. We recommend using one of those browsers if you need scrolling capture on either platform as they give the most consistent results. You can try alternate methods of scrolling capture as Mike explained above but it simply may not work in Chrome.

I am also seeing the scrolling function intermittently. It gets really frustrating and I am using IE9.

I'm getting the same with SnagIt 10 :(

Sure, I will use IE or Firefox when I need to capture a scrolling window. I gather the company would like to sell me an upgrade, but that won't happen until you support Chrome. I'm just sayin'.

I can't use the scolling window funciton at all! Not in IE8, not in Firefox 4.0, nothing! Grrrrr.... SnagIt, when's the fix coming?

I'm having the same issue. I don't like having to open up a new browser just to do a screen capture.

The scrolling capture doesn't work for me either in IE of FF. And Chrome has now surpassed FF in number of users, so please get with the program.

Works fine in MOST RECENT Versions of Chrome, FF, Safari...heck even IE {Not recommended}

After a lot of research and speaking with TechSmith I made this video:

I hope it helps.-
Peter thanks, this works just like it should

Peter Gillberg - you are a genius! The "Extended Window" is EXACTLY what i needed for a workaround! Excellent tutorial too - very easy to follow!
Hopefully TechSmith can put a little more muscle on this problem though, as this IS a workaround only. Not good for them when a cheaper option like FastStone Capture does the job without problems. (*gasp!*)
(Full disclosure - this is not a Chrome problem for me. I CAN get some scrolling web pages to work in IE - others fail after a short scroll and the Custom Scroll was no help. The FastStone trial seems to work consistently though.) This workaround will do for now...
Thanks again! :) -

thanks to jeffersonmc for information about FastStone. I can't understand how TechSmith does manage Web pages scrolling captures in Firefox for having them being still buggy in Snagit 11. All-in-one capture does not work for most Web pages in firefox 10. Custom scrolling capture works better now but it should be consider only as a temporary workaround.
So firefox is only partially supported in WIndows environments. -

first of all you should export your all bookmarks so from chrome so you would be able to get them again in case of any loss then remove chrome installation and reinstall it, i think its the better way to resolve this problem.

Here's what worked for me.
The program was scrolling for some pages but not for others.
It would always be able to scroll sideways, but most of the time the vertical scroll button on the bottom wouldn't appear in chrome.
But then I played with a setting that fixed the whole thing.
I opened snagit, in the "input" section on the "all in one" box, I clicked it and added a check on the "Multiple Area" selection.
It was unchecked, so I simply added a check.
Ever since then, the vertical scroll button appears for me.
Sometimes it doesn't, so I hit "esc" and then hit the "all in one" again and then it appears.
I hope this helps a few people at least.

I use Explorer, scrolling doesn't work with SnagIt 10 although it did with version 9 on this same computer. I am very, very, unhappy with this version and am now telling others to just get the trial version when they need it or use the snipit tool in Windows...
By the way, my company probably has 1000's of individuals worldwide who bought this software for personal use and I can talk post my complaint on the corporate forums. -

I Googled scrolling in Chrome and found this thread. Yes, I have been using the work-around of launching IE9 to get scrolling.
After reading this thread, thought I would upgrade from v10.1 to v10.2 ($24.95 as a "valued customer"!).
Clicked on the link, auto-launched IE9 and.... I get a blank page! Just the TechSmith banner across the top! Looks like the TechSmith/Snagit website is NOT compatible with IE9, but IS recommended for their software. Seems ironic -

Interesting that Google Chrome is the only browser that I have will always work with scrolling on web pages. I get annoyed when I have to switch to Chrome from another browser (because I know Chrome will work).

Soooo annoying that this doesn't work. Our software is designed to work on chrome/ffox in the first instance so it becomes quite irksome to have to try swapping to IE to take scrolling screen shots. Think it might be time to look into some alternatives to snag-it for our company. Thanks to the posters above for suggestions on that.

Michele, if you find an alternative that works, could you please post it here so that the rest of us can get something that works too?

I just tried a scrolling capture of this page using Faststone Capture in Chrome, and it worked perfectly.I don't often need scrolling capture,so when I do,I copy the page URL and past it into the Chrome address bar. It will be a cold day in Hell when I shell out $50 for Snag It! My work PC has Snag It,but I use Faststone Capture at home.
