[MAC] How do I record at a lower resolution? [MAC]

I use mac, and as such I have a retina 2880x1800 monitor, and even though mine is used for gaming I don't EVER play at that res, max I ever go is 2048x1280. ANYWAY it lags the flarp out of my computer, making all other apps lose allocatable memory to use for the game I would record. If I try and lower it through custom settings, it just shows a smaller bit of the screen instead, so that's annoying. I want to record a game. not a slideshow. (And yes I can still play, but 20fps is WAYYYYYY too horrible when I'm used to smooth 60 all day)

To record at a lower resolution you have to change the resolution of your monitor. To do that you can go into System Preferences->Displays then click "Scaled" and choose the option that says "Larger Text"
I am not sure how much this will increase the framerate of the game, but I hope it helps!
