"Restoring screen recording..." error - Critical issue

When I click the Record button it goes straight back to the editor with the message "Restoring screen recording..." and then stops and asks me to enter my details to send the crash report. I have recorded on this Mac several times before. Recently I upgraded to Catalina but cannot recall if the most recent successful recording was before or after the upgrade.

I have deleted/uninstalled all of the components and reinstalled from the App store, and am still getting the error. There is a similar issue posted by someone else 5 yrs ago but there is no update in that post.

Any ideas?

I am using Camtasia 3 for Mac OS Catalina.

Camtasia 3, being two major versions out of date, unfortunately does not support Catalina. For full Catalina support, get the latest version of Camtasia 2019.

You may, however, be able to work around the problem in Camtasia 3 by following these steps:

It worked after I relaxed privacy settings in the Mac for Camtasia. Thanks.
