Generally speaking, most software manufacturers list system requirements for their programs somewhere.
As does TechSmith. https://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-system-requirements.html

Perhaps placing it in a more obvious location wouldn't be a bad idea.
Its towards the bottom of the Camtasia page.

...the windows version is as relevant as the camtasia version and the price. Microsoft still supports 8.1 version. TechSmith rationale not to support Windows 7 and 8 because Microsoft no longer support it. I hope competition forces TechSmith to care for their remaining clients, and less what versions Microsoft supports.

Hi Vkajgo,

Our decision to support OSes is not based solely on Microsoft's support, but a number of factors. We look at how much of our user-base is using older versions of Windows, and also what we can do in the product based on the functionality available to us in the host operating system.

I'm sorry for any trouble our decision to drop support for Windows 8.1 has caused you,
Glenn
