Hello,

I am sorry for the trouble you are having. This is a known bug. A fix, which will address the issue you are seeing, will be coming
out in the next maintenance release sometime in May. Again, I apologize for the trouble and while there is nothing I can do to help right now, a fix is coming soon.

Hello!

I just wanted to hop in here real quick to let you know that we have addressed this particular issue. To receive the fix you will need to uninstall your current version of Snagit (be sure to choose to keep your files) and then download the following version: http://download.techsmith.com/snagit/enu/1232/snagit.exe

Thanks!

I just, but I will point out I get the same error on two different systems, with differing configurations, and different flavors of windows 7.

I had the same issue until I entered my software key and registered, then the update feature started working. Only place I could find the software key was when I went to Help and selected Register product. the registration page that appears is auto-populated with it, so grab a copy so that you can use it to enter the software key on the new version.

Hi Mark,

When you installed version 12.4, did you install over the existing version? Or, did you first uninstall your previous version THEN install the new?

In order to get the fix, you need to uninstall your previous version first (be sure to choose to keep your files).

My copy of 12.3.2 has the same problem. I receive an error when trying to update. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no joy.

Ditto. Snagit 12.3.2 on Windows 10. Uninstalled and used link on desktop with no change. Same error on laptop so I didn't even attempt the uninstall/reinstall.

Installed 12.4.1 on a trial basis and then loaded my software key. After so doing, I checked for updates. Same error. Something is definitely wrong...

I just did that same on my Windows 8.1 Enterprise computer. I uninstalled 12.3.2 kepping my files, downloaded using the above link and installed again. I still have the same issue when manually checking for updates.

However after a restart and another uninstall/reinstall and reentering my license key I was able to update to 12.4.1 using right click in tray icon
