2020 Flatten selection - poor quality?

This type of question has been asked a lot and in the previous versions there seemed to be either an option to try out or you had to paste a selection @ 100% and maybe it would give back decent quality. Unfortunately, it looks like Techsmith has removed a lot of options to test out.

In the image below you will see the Poor quality (left) after its flatten. As you can see the image on the right is of a great quality... and is the desired result, not the result we get on the left.

Maybe I just don't understand, but if I can get good quality and the images are at the same image size, why does it pixelate the crap out of the image when it's flattened?

Thanks,
Scott

I don't know if this applies to the issue you are having but, I have the same issue when I increasing an SnagIt image size that have captured from a PDF doc of an autocade drawing.  I can read it fine when I view it in the PDF doc but, if I capture the image and increase the image size in SnagIt, the small details come out blurry.  the only option that I have is to increase the PDF image size before I capture a SnagIt image.  lot more work but that's all I have found that works.  I don't have any luck when trying to capture a SnagIt image from a drawing on the web unless they have the ability to increase the size online.

Truthfully that is sort of how I got the image on the right. I made my PDF large and screen captured it, copy and pasted it into my image and reduced the size to fit the image and when I flatten it, it looks like the one on the left.

It doesn't make any sense to me If it looks like that good at that size, then what is Snagit doing to it to make it look so poor? I hope someone from their support team sees this and can answer this question.

It is driving me crazy trying to understand this behavior.

I have been struggling with this issue for many years with Snagit.  And it is never easy trying to capture quality images of this type.  I don’t completely understand the technical side of how the capture system work. I compare it to taking a picture with a camera that has a 1 Mega pixel rate and one that has a 12 mega pixel capability.  It would be nice to understand if Snagit has the capability of the 12 MB of pixel camera instead of the 1 mega pixel capability.

Its been a bit since I have checked on this post... it's great to see how Techsmith's support skipped over this post. - thanks, Support!
