2 Errors with Clip Adding

They happen at various times. Either:

1) When Previewing/Adding to Timeline with a certain clip, Camtasia "stops working and closes".

2) A message box appears, saying "Encountered an Improper".

Both are annoying, considering I can't finish my project. These issues didn't happen with Camtasia 6 if I recall correctly. Thanks..

Hello,

I'm sorry you are having this issue.

Can you tell us a bit more about the trouble you are having?

Is this occurring only with one particular clip?
If so, what kind of clip is it?

The more you can tell us about the clip(s) in question and your project, the more we can attempt to get to the bottom of this.

Sorry again,
Kelly

Sorry for not being more detailed. It's only happening to 2 clips right now.
They are .camrec format, and 181 & 271 MBs in size. ( Don't think size matters b/c smaller & bigger clips successfully added.)

Hope that's suffice.

I think the best course of action at this point is to open a support ticket so that we can examine the properties of the media clips in more detail. You can do that here:

Thanks for working with us on this!

I did that. ^

I think it's not the clips, but rather: it won't let me exceed a certain timeline length. Right now it's at 2:46, and no matter what clip I add, Camtasia error's and closes.

Great. Is there a way that you could provide the entire project to the support folks? You can export the whole thing as a ZIP file by selecting File > Export project as zip... in Camtasia Studio. This way if it is a timeline issue causing the problem, then we can debug exactly what you're looking at.

For some reason, I can't upload the zip to any hoster to share here.

Hi,
You won't be able to upload files to Get Satisfaction,

Please click the support link in the post above. This will get you to the technical support website. You will need to create an account if you don't have one already.

Once there you can upload your zip file.

Thanks,
Kelly

Hi,

Camtasia Studio 8 has just been released and it has a completely new timeline and rendering engine. Aside from all the new features, working with clips on the timeline should be far more stable. You should give it a try and see if it resolves your issues.

The 30-day trial is fully functional and can be installed alongside existing versions of Camtasia Studio. You can learn more about the new version here:

I am having the same issue and am currently running the highest version. It's driving me insane and has occurred on all of the past 3-5 recordings I have done and is taking SO much time to resolve and/or re-record each one!
Small segments of the timeline will simply go BLACK - audio is fine but the video is gone. I read on another board to convert to AVI - but I am already running clips as .avi. What is the solution to this? I am on Windows 10.

Beyond frustrating at this point. I am going to have to look for other options - way too many errors and slow-downs :(

Nadia
