Some applications have rich motion or animations. The recordings of these applications seem lower quality because the Camtasia recorder frame rate doesn’t keep up with higher frame rates
Increase the Camtasia recorder’s ability to reliably record at high frame rates such as 60 fps
i've used other programs such as final cut pro (which im really bad at) and after rendering it it's 60 FPS
i would love this feature since camtasia is my only main editing workflow application
While I really hate to share anything that would appear to detract from Camtasia, I do see a fair number of requests for not only recording at 60 FPS, but also full screen games.
For the next couple of days, you can obtain the ZDSoft screen recorder for free instead of paying $39.
I've just downloaded it myself, so I've not used it enough to see if it's worth springing for if you had to buy it. But I thought it might help out some of the folks that are really needing to record in that full screen mode as well as recording at 60FPS.
Here is the link:
It downloads a zip package and the details that allow you to register it are found in the included readme.txt file.

Please no "MACBOOK, MORE LIKE MACDONALDS! USE A PC!" nastiness ok? Mine is the really nice one, and I typically get 60 fps on my PC EMULATOR on max settings with ENB mods and HD textures, so I actually have a better computer than you. As such, I want to be able to record this glorious MACBOOK MASTER RACE beauty for my gaming channel. If it is impossible, when will it be added? And seriously devs, please don't nerf the functions of this just because most macbooks are crackbooks.
How does one increase the recording FPS in Camtasia to more than 30 FPS? When I expand the options I only see 1, 10, 15, and 30 FPS as possible choices. I've tried to look this up via Google, but it appears that no one has ever had any problem changing the FPS to whatever they desire.
Am I missing something simple?
To be clear, I do notice a degradation in my capture and I suspect that it is being caused by my frame rate being prematurely capped at 30 when it could reach considerably higher. Prior to using Camstudio I used FRAPS and with FRAPS I was able to sustain an average frame rate of 55 (when I set the target to 60).
can camtasia 9 record the screen at 60 frames per second? or is it simply a updated editor?
Today many webcams, pc games and normal computers produce a video output of 60 fps. Camtasia allows me to record in 60 fps, but when I try to produce (export) it is limited to 30 fps. Please remove this limitation.
I am trying to record a game windowed and I normally get 113+fps average. However, Camtasia 9 in windowed forces the framerate to 20 and BELOW, making me watcch an ugly slideshow of barf screen. when I hold alt tab, the framerate goes right back up meaning camtasia recording forces the game to play really badly. I'm not asking to RECORD at higher framerates, I'm saying, why can't I play at a NORMAL framerate?
I was confused by this thread because I didn't read it carefully enough.
That's why I brought up camcorders, DSLR's,etc. in my first post
60fps Screen Recording is all about gaming. Camtasia can't even record games in Full Screen mode.
The way I see it. The Camtasia timeline cannot Edit and Produce 60fps video yet.
Plus, once you start editing. Anything over 30fps places a heavy burden on your system resources. The additional frames are an exercise in redundancy.
How many people would buy Camtasia to record at 60fps "In Windowed Mode To Boot", knowing they can't even edit it in Camtasia?
Most gamers won't play in windowed mode. If the recorder isn't modified to record in full screen mode. And the Editor isn't modified to edit the footage.
They won't be interested in Camtasia.
Simply improving the recorder , doesn't go far enough.
We are interested in customer feedback on that topic as well.
We were a bit surprised that screen recording at 60 fps didn’t track a bit higher in the voting. As is mentioned in the Import, edit, & produce 60fps video idea, there’s similarly a point at which high frame rate video is an expectation for screen recording applications. There’s a compelling case that the time has arrived. Based on our research, we believe the need for high frame rate screen recording is most prevalent among those recording gaming. Recording gaming isn’t historically a segment that we have pursued. Understandably, those wanting to record gaming don’t typically choose Camtasia primarily because of price but also because of the lack of 60 fps recording. No doubt, we have heard use cases for 60 fps screen recording outside of gaming. At this time, those use cases aren’t prevalent enough to drive up the priority of this idea.
We will bring 60 fps screen recording to Camtasia but that time is a little too far out say it’s planned so we will leave it at under consideration for now. We’ll update this post when the priority becomes higher.
We've updated the status of the 60 fps recording idea to Not Planned. Some of the foundational work has been started and we do anticipate picking up this work again late in 2018. That said, we do not expect to have active development toward this in the first half of 2018. This only applies to the 60 fps in screen recording. 60 fps editing and production is planned and that idea can be followed here. Thanks!
So my research on the forums over the last couple of hours has led me to find out that, while I can now edit 60 fps footage in the new Camtasia, I can't actually make 60 fps footage with its built in recorder. Doesn't this seem like only fixing half of a problem?
If I'm mistaken, let me know. It's possible since the release information mentions 60 fps editing, but doesn't say anything about recording being limited to 30 fps, though that's what I've found people claiming here on the forums.
Techsmith has create an inclusive system here that doesn't require people to get separate software packages for recording and for editing, but if there isn't continuity in the features between the two, what's the point? I know some people are happy that they can use footage from other sources and for them, this is great. However, there are many people out there who primarily use the Camtasia recording footage for their videos and they want that to be 60 fps as well. I was just about to buy the software upgrade when I found all of this information out and this upgrade for me is pretty much pointless. 98% of my videos are gameplay footage and I need that to be 60 fps and I need to be able to edit it in 60 fps and produce a 60 fps video when everything is edited and done.
Please add 60 fps recording as well because until that point, there is no benefit for me to upgrade my older version of Camtasia. I've been using this software for over 5 years now and I love the speed of rendering and the simplicity, but without 60 fps more and more people like me are going to move on to other options because 30 fps is just not enough in 2018. I know Techsmith has said that gamers haven't been their primary customers, but even if that is the case, keeping more people happy with your product is good for business for you and for your customers as well.
I'll repeat it here again, please add 60 fps recording to a future release.
Thanks to the mod who moved this here! :)
