In Camtasia v7, the "fade" was a smooth transition between two clips.

This video illustratesm that it is not working very well in Camtasia 8:

Hi Gunnar.

Thank you for the video. It makes what you are seeing very clear.

We have noticed this issue as well, and are looking into it. I can tell you that it is because you are cross-fading into a group. You're not doing anything wrong, but the result is not ideal.

There is a fix to this, which you might be able to apply. I don't know what your group looks like when you open it, but if there is any way to break off and ungroup the first few seconds of it, you should be able to cross-fade from ungrouped clip to ungrouped clip.

Let me know if you try this, and if it works for you. It is not a permanent solution - but hopefully a temporary workaround.

I am experiencing flicker when fading into or out of a group. Has this issue been addressed? The original post was from 3 years ago.

the issue is still evident in CS 8.6.0

best workaround is to ungroup then add the transition between appropriate media

you might also try making saved frames immediately before and after junction with the group; insert those frames at the junction, make each .5 sec in duration, then add a 1sec fade transition between those 2 framesĀ

does that work?
