.jpg quality setting

Have Snagit Editor remember the last setting I set my .jpg quality to, or give me the Option to change the default setting. It keeps defaulting back to 90% and I have to keep changing it.

Thank you for the feedback. This is a bug that we plan to fix in a future version of Snagit.

A workaround for the current version of Snagit is to create a profile that outputs directly to a JPG. When you create the profile you can change the file settings for JPG within it and those quality settings should stick.

This is still a pain in the neck 2 years later with v 11.4.  You don't give users control over setting the default quality level for saving jpg files.

Many (most?) users don't want additional compression applied to images. I'm often editing and creating jpg images in the editor (not just working from screen captures), and I don't want them saved at 90% quality. I want them at 100%. The "profiles" solution is only helpful if you're editing a screen capture, not if you're editing an image from let's say... a camera or some other program.

In order to save at 100%, I have to choose File... Save As.... Options... double click "90"... change it to "100"... Click "OK" then finally click Save.

If I could control the default quality settings, it would be ONE click (save) or Ctrl-s.

Please make the default 100 percent, and allow us to change the default setting to something else if we'd like to.

Really superb program. Would just like more responsiveness to client feedback.

Hi Eric - I just looked at my own SnagIt 11.4 and if I save a JPG with 100% quality, that's what is set for subsequent saves. I even tried closing SnagIt and restarting, and the 100% is there after a restart.

I'm guessing what you mean is that if you save perhaps a PNG format in between, the compression gets reset? I did notice that.

Cheers... Rick :)
