a quick question about Camtasia preferences

That's a Windows Preferences screen. They do look totally different, that's normal.

It looks like Udemy likes to combine Windows and Mac lessons. I don't know what course your watching, but it looks like they have the problem Linda.com has.
Outdated tutorials.
I bring this up because because they charge money for this. Neither site seems to concern themselves with revisions.

So what exactly is your question?

I believe Udemy owns Linda.com now. That's the reason for neither site keeping current. It's been especially true with Camtasia. This dates back to before Udemy's existence.

This is strictly my opinion. Camtasia changed features and functionality a lot throughout Camtasia 8's reign. Cam 8 changed its spots frequently over the course of 3 years. Linda.com didn't try to keep up with these constant changes.

Most software companies don't change their programs as radically as TechSmith, unless there releasing a new version.

Adobe will add a new feature, you won't see that in tutorials. But they don't overhaul UI's or Menus. Thing of this nature. With Camtasia it's a no holds barred approach.

You don't know what feature might be removed. What might be added, etc. and so forth until after the maintenance update.

A few months later, Rinse and Repeat.

I believe if you’re going to charge for lessons you need to carry amended updates.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to care at Udemy/Linda.com enough to stay current. That’s just the way it is.I learned this years ago. Nothing has changed for the better.

However, The task is more daunting when the changes effect a large percentage of your tutorials. So there's that as well.
