What does Text Capture actually do. I know about 16 things it can't do. I get an error message everytime. Can't do images, web pages, emails, pdf's. I paid about $25 for this upgrade, not happy Jan :(

Grab Text should be able to capture the text from all of the things that you mentioned.

Watch the tutorial on this page: hhttps://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-snagit-text-capture.html

If it doesn't function like you'd expect based on that, please open a ticket with our Technical Support https://support.techsmith.com

From the "Not happy Jan" I imagine that you're Australian. 8^>

Glenn is correct, it will do all of those things. It won't necessarily do them WELL, or certainly not as well as I'd like, but if it can't recognise something as text correctly it will generally just make its best guess. In one screen of data that I regularly need to capture, it frequently but not always reads a percentage sign as 7o, for example. And the way it perceives tables of data at times can be just bizarre, but with a bit of practice you learn to work around that. Usually.

It should not, however, throw an error. If it is, then something is broken and a support request would be in order.

Regardless of its limitations, though, it can save quite a bit of time so don't give up on it just yet. It can repay those 25 bucks over time.

It was one of those functions that made me say "Meh" when it was introduced but now I use a lot.  I agree that its text recognition id sometime a little flaky, particularly when the font is complex or there is a lack of contrast between the foreground and background colours but it does save a lot of time even accounting for that.

But I agree that an error is most unusual, and need reporting to support
