Ability to toggle delete and ripple delete

I find that when editing I want to ripple delete almost 100% of time. It's frustrating that the delete key / backspace key always means delete (not ripple delete). Could we get a checkbox or something to say delete means ripple delete?

Hey Michael,

If you hold the command key while pressing delete, it will ripple delete. I hope that speeds up your editing!

Hi J.

I appreciate the response but this does not help me.

I already used macOS's shortcut keyboard thing to map cmd-x (which is better because it's one hand, not two).

I basically want delete to mean ripple delete.

Thanks,
Michael

You could try mapping cmd+x to ripple delete within Camtasia? To do that you would:
1. Go to System Preferences->Keyboard
2. Click Shortcuts
3. Add a shortcut for Camtasia for "Ripple Delete"
4. Select the keys you would like

Here is a video showing these steps: http://www.screencast.com/t/R0PxcNhpreT

Hi J.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. But my request is for having a single key for ripple delete. You cannot map single keys in that shortcuts. It has to have a modifier like cmd- or ctrl- etc. Hence, no way to alter delete's action.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month (this month is slightly different, due to the holidays) where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!

-Robert
