How can I create a movie from several imported images (>500) and
adapt for all (by selecting all) of them the duration to 0.5sec without having gaps between the single images.
In Camtasia 8 this was done automatically w/o gaps but now I'm on Version 9.0 on Windows.

Hmmm, near as I can tell the only thing you can do is to ensure the duration is configured before you import the images.
In case you are unaware of how to do that, click Edit > Preferences > Timing.
Cheers... Rick :)

thinking from memory here ...
if you increase duration, no gaps; I believe that also holds true if you reduce duration
you can also multi select, apply clip speed, and that works too either way

I have this same problem. I see from the original post that this used to work in Camtasia 8, but now does not work in Camtasia 9. I often make movies from hundreds of still photos, and I need to be able to decrease duration of many photos at once without creating a bunch of gaps that I then need to go manually remove.

another approach ...
instead of changing durations, select all the photos, and apply clip speed to all the photos, then, with all selected, adjust the speed up/down; that should solve the gap issue
does that work?

the clip speed approach doesn't work very well. first, it creates a new variable separate from the duration that now needs to be adjusted independently. second, it doesn't help when trying to change multiple non-sequential photos. really all we need is a simple on/off setting for "auto-adjust timeline" that when it's off, it behaves as it does now, and when it's on, it automatically shifts the timeline when you are moving clips or adjusting durations.

Kevin - did you ever find a satisfactory work-around? I, too, import many images and want to adjust durations to many at once w/o having to tediously manipulate spaces between slides. I do not see how the clip speed approach allows for editing more than 1 image at a time.

This does not work for me. Here's what's happening:
Reducing duration makes all of the clips shorter, in-place with gaps. Making them longer only affects the last clip in the timeline.
Ultimately what I'd like is a ripple extend where you can select all items in the sequence (of images, annotations etc...) and simply extend the same way you do on a single item. This way if it did work would be better than the previous clip by kayak man as you wouldn't need to enter durations up and down until you get the closest one but simply drag and drop the right hand edge of the items in the timeline to shrink / extend them.

are you saying that using clip speed adjustments on all selected clips does not work?

that's correct. Making the duration shorter makes them shorter with gaps and making them longer only makes the last clip longer.

here's another video showing how it looks when dragging the edge in the timeline:

when you do that, you're just changing the duration of each clip [not changing clip speed adjustment]

the clip speed adjustment method always works for me [no gaps, etc]

if you look at the first video I uploaded you'll see I'm altering clip speed, 0.5 then 2x

I did watch your 1st video, although it was hard to see the value adjustments because it was an embedded video
otherwise, I can't explain why my method doesn't work for you; it never fails for me
maybe make another short test video, but host it on screencast.com so I can view it at a large size?

also, if you start out with gaps between each clip, and try and fill in with clip speed, that will not work; to initially remove all gaps, select all and increase duration; once gaps are gone, clip speed trick should work
