Add a touch bar button for screenshots

I noticed today that MacOS has the ability to add a "take a screenshot" button to the touch bar.  I was hoping that it actually was for SnagIt but (alas) it opens the system screenshot app.

It would be fantastic if I could have a SnagIt screenshot button on my touch bar.

Hmmm, I'm not a Mac user and I'm not sure what version of SnagIt you are using, but I believe a recent version of SnagIt added the ability for the SnagIt editor to open if you have captured a screen using system tools. On Windows,  using the Snipping tool causes the SnagIt editor to open.

Perhaps the Mac version has that too and it simply needs to be enabled? Or maybe you are using an older version of SnagIt and need to try out the most recent?

Cheers... Rick :)

Already possible!

Go into Snagit preferences to the Capture tab. The second choice is "Open system screenshots in Snagit"... Check the box so that is turned on. Now go back to your touch bar and admire the results.

Note: On tapping the camera icon on the touch bar, the system level choice box will appear; use it just like you are doing the shot at system level (actually you are). In other words, the actual shot is being taken by the OS but the shot is directed over to Snagit to open and edit.

ehhhhhh sort of but not really.  If I click that touch bar button, it still uses the Mac system screenshot capture tools rather than SnagIt's capture tools.  Sure, it ends up in the same place but SnagIt's capture experience is 10x better than the native Mac capture.

That is exactly what I said. I have used both of these and most of the screenshot applications in existence for the Mac. As far as I'm concerned, the capture experience is much the same across the board. It's the after the capture experience that Snagit leaves the competitors in the dust so to speak. Just my humble opinion!

However, the only other screenshot app that I use with any regularity is Screenshot FX because it can do irregular captures. See attachment.

Hmmmmm...pretty sure that the captures only show up (eventually) in Snagit Editor.  SnagIt doesn't replace the system screenshot capture functionality.

BTW, here's the checkbox option.

Anyway -- my feature request: just having a touch bar button created by SnagIt that I could add to my touch bar for capturing would be awesome.
