Add Audio Description functionality

When I attended ATD 2019, I took the accessibility session prior to visiting your staff on the Expo floor. In the accessibility session, I learned we should be including Audio Description to our videos, but your team said Camtasia can't do that at the moment. Can you please add this accessibility feature to help the visually-impaired? You would probably want to add an AD icon to the player as well.

Here is the demonstration we got in the accessibility session: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyA5mkhCzRA

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback.  The TechSmith Smart Player does have support for an Audio Description track as of February this year with version 5.27.0+.  Camtasia currently does not have support for setting this up but it is an easy manual addition to a local Camtasia production.  If you are interested I can post the instructions.

Our TechSmith Relay product has support for setting this up with a video hosted on that platform.

You should probably post the instructions for anyone that's interested.
It's got me curious, not looking to do it at this time. {:>)

Manual Instructions for adding an audio description track to a local Camtasia production using TechSmith Smart Player

  1. Create local Smart Player production.
  2. Create web ready audio file to use for the AD track.  I'd recommend the .m4a format.  It is fully supported by all the web browsers we support.  Also Camtasia can export that format.  The audio track should be the same length as the video.
  3. Open up the production folder
  4. Copy your audio file to that folder.
  5. Open up the HTML file with the name that contains "_player" in a text editor.
  6. Locate this line of text:
    TSC.mediaPlayer.init("#tscVideoContent");
  7. Right above that line add:
    TSC.playerConfiguration.audioDescriptionMediaSrc = "your-audio-filename-with-extension";
  8. Save file
  9. Upload production folder to web
