Add border to step tool callouts

I'd like to add a border to my steps, like in this example:

A step border would

  • let me bring the number into focus by repeating its color in the border;
  • help my audience tell the background and my annotation apart.

If this is what you mean, you can already do it, just drag the border out and insert a fill colour and away you go.

Same thing from my perspective. you can create a border, fill it with any color, and drop any objects you want in it. Here's the same using the step tool - it's not hard to do at all, just takes a few seconds.

But if you mean you want a border around the step symbol itself, yeah-no you can't so that so easily.you can fudge it using circles superimposed over the step, but that's a little cumbersome. I assumed you wanted a border on the left of the snag, because that's where the OP's arrow was pointing.

Hi Paul;

I think that there may be some misunderstanding; unless I miss my guess, the OP is looking to create a border to the specific step too, not a background.

See:

The way I am reading @acs request is that they would like to add a border, as seen around the "1" in my image, versus the existing appearance ("3" in my image).

oh, ok then, you can fudge it by playing with the shadows setting a bit, like this:

oh, and I'm using Snagit V13.1.3, I'm a relatively new user so bear with me :)
Thanks.

Hi Paul,

I see your point. I could manually recreate the effect I need.

But when you need to do it in bulk, the work is tedious and a waste of time.

Shape, Text, and Callout already have an Outline setting. Adding it to Steps would make the SnagIt experience more consistent, and my day far easier.
