I often need to record the original author of an image or the URL of the original image. Currently, trying to record that data outside Snagit and relate it to the SNAG or other image file is a nightmare.
Here's my use case: I make screenshots and related images for software user guides. I manage literally thousands of them, across a couple of dozen documents. Sometimes a screenshot has something about it that needs to be noted for future reference, such as "This "Ping" button will change in December 2017" or "Bob approved this image and the callouts but Fred says it doesn't work like that."
Metadata is a thing. A very useful thing that can be used by people.
One note: this metadata field must be part of the .snag/.snagproj file, but NOT part of exported JPG or PNG files!
In addition, the Custom Text entry area is a thin narrow field. It's hard to see what you are typing and worse to try to edit.
Please let us apply Custom text to individual images and please make that "Custom Text" entry area a decent sized box (a pop-out box would be great) where we can see all the text and edit easily.
I'd like that custom text to also appear whenever "Details" are displayed. At present, this Custom Text does not appear in "Details" displays.
FYI, you cannot edit the text that pops up under the image, as that's just display. You can only edit in that thin narrow field.
I’d agree with comments above — Comments linked to an image metadata would be very useful feature.
I am working as a software performance consultant. Part of my job is to find non-optimal settings and provide advices on how to improve it. I usually take a lot of screenshots as an “evidence”. And my life would be much easier if I could annotate it in a way, my customers would not see. Just to have a chance to memorize some key point of each screenshot.
I’d even say, this feature alone would force me to buy an upgrade or even a new version of SnagIt by full-price.
