If anyone has ever used Adobe AfterEffects, they probably know of this really cool effect called "corner pin" where you can take a still image or a video and "pin" the corners of it to a part of an underlying image.

For example, say you have a picture or movie with a blank screen in it. You can pin the corners of your top layer movie to the shape of the screen, no matter what the size or orientation, and the movie on top will adhere to that shape and seem like it "fits" within the screen and is being played on the screen.

This is a very useful effect, especially if you want to integrate a movie into another movie and make it seem like it belongs there.

It would be awesome if Camtasia could do this as well! It is one of the few effects I still need AfterEffects for.

Thanks for your suggestion Ingrid!
Are you using Camtasia Studio 8? We added the ability to group media together on the timeline that may work for what you are trying to do. If you layer your second media over your first on a separate track, adjust the position and size of that media to fit where you want it, then select both clips on the timeline, right click and choose group. This will combine the two clips into a single media, and you can manipulate that grouped media however you want. The two clips in the group will maintain their relationship to each other. For example, if you zoom in on the group, then both clips will zoom together. Does this help?

What this won't do is change perspective. If for example, you need the layered object to be wider at the top than it is at the bottom to fit an irregular shape on the underlying media. If that is something you need, then we don't have that capability currently.

I hope this helps!

Shane the perspective option would be nice to have. Is it something that could be added as a feature request for the future upgrade? I myself would like to see that added into Camtasia Studio for PC along with Chromakey. Let us know and thanks Shane. Have a Happy Holiday Season and keep up the great work.
