This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: How to capture exactly the same region again on Snagit for Mac

The fine folks at Smashing Magazine very sweetly asked us to add Fixed Region capture to Snagit on Mac.

We're always at work on the next version of the app, so if you want this feature, too, please +1 this post. It also helps if you can add specifics about how this feature would help you.

Your feedback helps the Snagit dev team prioritize the various requests we get. Thanks!

I use this feature all the time on the Windows side and really, really want it for my Mac. I do comparative shots for kids of views in Google Maps and Google Earth and it's really imperative that I use a fixed region. Please do this!

I have been a long term user of SnagIT on Windows (probably nearly 10 years or so). I have recently switched to a Mac and I have to say that the Mac version of SnagIt is so inferior to the Windows version. I would say I am a loyal (or rather was a loyal) supporter and can begin to count the number of people I have put onto SnagIt.

Due to the lack of features in the Mac version I am now looking for an alternative to SnagIt for the Mac.

Which features would you most like to see added to Snagit on the Mac platform? I'm sure the team would be interested in hearing which features you value the most.

Add Fixed Region screenshot (or implement the "control-shift R" repeat last screenshot)  The reason this is important is for documentation where what is on the screen builds over time.  Sure you could take a video and find the frame where you had the right part of the build, but Snagit is too good a tool to force people to do that.  Pleeze?

Hi Dave,

I would also like the ability to capture images like Windows does. In the Mac version, I have to always grab around the image, then trim, crop, etc.

Have you guys not done this yet?!? Not sure how on earth you can justify this basic feature being missing from a 'dedicated' screenshot application. :(

Time to find an alternative product, I guess.

i have to capture 1000's of frames of courseware material for client review - snapzPro doesn't work on Yosemite yet (mac) so i bought snagit to fill the void - what a disappointment and i see this request has been asked for for years - please address.

I'm dismayed to see that the original post in this thread is three years old! I too am looking for fixed region captures on my Mac. Please, Techsmith. Listen to your customers already.

What's even more disappointing is that TechSmith don't bother having anyone monitor and/or reply in these forums. I work in software myself, so I understand the various pressures that exist, but this is pretty terrible from a customer engagement perspective.

SORT IT OUT, TECHSMITH.

I updated the Google Chrome plugin  to Correct a Problem of when trying Make screen Shot of a Window using the window capture and it separates in to three parts a blank Background and the other layers. When I updated seem to fix problem. Now with update to 5 version its back again. If I knew Preferences file didn't contain license code.  I'd wipe out and Try again.

I need the Fixed Region for my Mac, not repeat last screenshot because the location changes. I need 600 x 600 pixel images from various different parts of different web pages. I need this for a project I am currently on and can't see how to work around it to create consistency, except using more of my time to edit...

Wow, more than 4 years and this request has still not been addressed.  This is a gap that needs to be filled.

What is so difficult about adding the feature? I'm not renewing my subscription again until I know this is in the product. It's that important.
