Adding collections of icons, images etc to the Library - Camtasia 9

Hi all

I have purchased some packs of .png assets. Each pack contains about 30 .png images e.g. speech bubbles. I would like to import the whole folder into C9 in the Library. I am likely to do this for many folders of assets.

From what I can tell this is the current process in C9:
1. Unzip assets to location on hard drive
2. In media library, browse to hard drive and import asset
3. Drag asset from media library to timeline
4. Right click asset, choose add to library
5. Repeat 30 times for every .png that you want to add to the C9 library
6. Right click somewhere in library panel, choose create new folder
7. Select all (in library, not on timeline, or they will be added as a group)
8. Drag to new folder

THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY ;) to import multiple files at once into the Library.

I have tried dragging the folder into C:\ProgramData\TechSmith\Camtasia Studio\Library 3.0\ where I created a new folder called Icons - Speech Bubbles. This was not reflected in C9 after I restarted the program.

I tried duplicating the file called "Icons - Buildings - apartment-01existing .assetproj" and renamed it Icons - Speech Bubbles.assetproj but that made no effect on contents of the asset library. (What is this file anyway, and what is its purpose?}

Please Techsmith guys and gals - is there a way for me to get my own bulk collections of assets into the library all at once?

Cheers

There is a better way.
For the most part . SO, you can right click in an open area of the Library. Then chose "New Folder"
Hover your cursor over the folder, Right click and chose >>>" Import media to Folder"
See Image

I say it's a better way for the most part because I cannot seem to rename a folder.I can right click an item in a folder and rename it but not the folder.
The second folder I created was automatically named Folder (1).Then (2) , (3),etc.
I cannot rename any of them. SO , there's a bug with renaming folders.

Regards,Joe

I had to try about 10x Joe before the New Folder option displayed. And you are right, you cannot rename the folder. Ugh Thanks

Hi All,

My apologies about this bug, we have this on our radar - until a fix is available you should be able to rename a folder if you drag some library asset into it, or close and reopen the application.

Regrets,

Aaron

Joe, I am unable to create a new folder by right clicking in the blank space in the Library. Any other suggestions on how to create a new folder? Thanks.

Hi Karenskuse,

Try right-clicking at the bottom of the list, right now we can't detect 'blank space' next to the items in the library list, so you'll have to scroll to the bottom - please let me know if this solves your issue.

Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Right-clicking at the bottom of the list does nothing.
Also, if I try to add an image to the library by clicking the '+' at the bottom of the library, the only option is to add a media file, so this puts my image into the folder called 'music tracks'.
It's not the end of the world because I can put the images that I want to use into the media bin for each video.
If you find a solution to the folder problem, though, I would love to know.
Thanks,
Karen
