adding multiple callouts to image

i'm a new user.  i want to layer a couple of callouts over a single image (spotlight and associated text box).  it seems to work fine when i first set it up but as soon as i go to add a subsequent callout (new spotlight), the properties/appearance of what was set previously don't work on playback.  What am i missing??

It sounds like, when you try to add that subsequent callout, you still have a previous callout selected.  So, you're replacing the previous callout rather than adding an additional one.  Be sure that you do not have a previous callout selected in one of the tracks when you attempt to add a new one.

The previous callout still appears but, since I'm layering the callouts, the spotlight is on track 2 and the text box is on track 3.  maybe the text box is 'behind' the dark space of the spotlight image?  is there a way to order what appears on top?

From what I can tell, the text box is matted into each callout so it's not a separate layer. I think if you right click on a callout, you have a choice of weather to bring something forward or send something to the back. Although you could just move each clip up or down on a track as well. I think you have to resize a image or element if you want to see multiple callouts on the same image. Not sure if that helps .

Actually, my bad. If you go to edit callout and then add hotspot, it is a separate layer. The principle is still the same though. I think
