You should offer a TechSmith affiliate program

I've been mulling this over for months now.

So we all know that TechSmith has some absolutely amazing products out on the market. We all know how well we've been helped out by TechSmith. So what if TechSmith could help us help others?

Each TechSmith user should be given an affiliate link that we can share with others. Maybe the company could even create badges that we could share on our blogs, Facebook pages, forum taglines, etc.

For every successful referral we send to TechSmith we would gain points that could be traded in for different rewards. (e.g. a TechSmith t-shirt, discounts on our subscriptions to Jing, etc.)

Current users would have a dual incentive to share:

1. Because we love using great products like the ones that Techsmith offers and therefore we'd love to tell our friends about them.
2. Users would have a financial/reward incentive to spread Jing. Plus, we'd have bragging rights. ;)

I'm positive that TechSmith would benefit greatly from such grass-root marketing. I mean, why wouldn't they want more customers, users, and mind-share?

Overall, it's a win-win situation. What are the odds that this could be a reality?

You can rest assured we are not withholding an affiliate program from you on purpose. We just want to make sure this is done right, and with the right partner. Stay tuned for more news!

I'm relatively a new user been a customer for about a few months and I am already impressed with software. I think an affiliate link would be great but I think it needs to be cashed based so users can decided what they want to do with the earnings they gain from promoting Techsmith. I think with the points and rewards it creates a lot more work for both your company and the user of your software.

My philosophy is keep it simple. Also who wants to read through a list of points to figure out what they can get when they can just look at cash earning and know what they can afford its something we already know how to do count earnings rather than points.

How it could work:

I think having a affiliate link you can add during video processing would be great have it integrated into the program. For example at the time of rendering your video it will have an option you can check to add link to Camtasia Studio as part of video player and when someone clicks link it tracks the ID and if a purchase is made within 30 days assuming user doesn't empty their cookies in browser we earn a commissions.

When earnings reach at least $50 you get a check or direct deposit such as paypal. I prefer paypal because its simply put an easy system to deal with and well known.

Techsmith:

I think you should also make a video ad showing that you listen to customers. I saw you take the time out to listen to your customers and write "under consideration" for ideas you might implement and that is not something you see everyday. I think that will motivate other new customers to share their ideas.

Wow Brent, 7 months ago you said, "Stay tuned for more news!" regarding an affiliate program. Two more months and you should be "birthing that baby." So what's up????

I'm a user too... Camtasia and Snagit (paid versions) and would like to be an affiliate for cash (vs gifts), as it will help to get later versions and other TechSmith products.  Why are we still not allowed to be affiliates?

No disrespect but this thread is 2 years old. Thus you have been thinking on donig it right for 2 years and no action. Perhaps you need to stop thinking and start doing.

I use SnagIt everyday for screen captures we use on a WordPress related support site. We get asked at least once a week how we do the cool "edging" on the screenshots. We always provide the link to SnagIt when asked, but it would be great if we were incentivised to include references in our newsletter, blog, etc...

Looking forward to seeing a formal program.

Cheers!

lol, don't expect much. Techsmith doesn't move quickly in ANY department, in any way, shape or form, be it development, feature implementation, or even marketing.

I joined oneNetworkDirect the day I got this notice. I went to get my affiliate link and it said it was "Pending Approval." I'm giving a presentation to a group of professional photographers tomorrow about Camtasia and other video editing programs. I'd love to have my affiliate link to share with them tomorrow. Who can make that happen?

Thanks!

Mark, Have you gotten this resolved? Are you using the onenetworkdirect? I have not used affiliate programs in years, but I would love to use one that is camtasia friendly with other users.
