Been using Camtasia Studio 7 for about two years off and on now. Got a project that required some advanced pan & zoom beyond CS7's capabilities (floating the movie under a "mask" as viewport). Used Sony Vegas Pro 10 to get the movement I needed, then rendered as an AVI to finish in Camtasia. Well, I don't recall ever needing to import a .AVI movie before now - usually just using the CAMRECs. But every codec I tried to use produced the same result: when I imported it to the clip bin and tried to put it on the timeline I got an error:

"Unable to decode the video stream for this file..."

Even using the Techsmith Screen Capture codec failed! ??? Also tried Sony YUV, Huffyuv, Cineform, even UNCOMPRESSED. MP4s seem to work as expected. But I would really want to cut down on the number of lossy compressions I subject my video to.

I searched on the support and forum pages here and all over the internet. I know many other folks have had the same problem, but I could not find any published solutions provided by TS. I saw the note about CS8. Before I try that though, can anybody tell me what is up with AVIs import and use? More importantly, are there fixes available? Willing to troubleshoot as needed to resolve. Thanks a bunch!
