Allow Camtasia 9 projects to be self-contained

We maintain Camtasia projects for later editing by anyone. Unfortunately, the tscproj file references have a very hard time being relative to the project. If you export to ZIP, the `src` paths are made relative to the project file, which is perfect. But the moment someone edits a media bin file, those paths are made absolute to the current user. The same applies if you manually made `src` paths relative by editing the raw JSON, though this does allow relative paths to be to a subfolder instead of all smashed in a single directory.

If a media path is relative, it would be great if it could stay relative at all times. This would allow anyone to continue working on a project file without constantly having to export and extract (or, worse, manually editing the tscproj JSON).

This derived from a Video Production Stack Exchange question, so if I've missed an existing ability to do this, feel free to answer it there.

This is essential for backing up projects - I would love to see this added asap

Hmmm..... in the Mac version (Camtasia 3), there is an option to save the project as self-contained.  I thought the purpose of that was so all data would be included, if passing it off to someone else.

As I not understanding the issue correctly?

Presumably, that is similar to the Export to ZIP command. If so, it is a one-time fix. It makes the paths relative only until the next time it is edited.

This would be nice - my current workflow on CamtasiaWindows is awkward:
- record a segment
- save the project
- close Camtasia
- rename the recording file
- open Camtasia let it warn me a file is missing
- update the missing media
- add the recording to the timeline

I would be really cool if it worked like CamtasiaMac where the recordings were embedded in the project file and I could rename them right inside Camtasia - that would save me a lot of time when making videos and a lot of time later during maintenance since I can archive only a single file without worrying about embedded absolute paths.

Hi and thanks for submitting your idea!

As outlined in our New Community Processes post, feature requests are open to voting up through the 1st of the month (this month is slightly different, due to the holidays) where we will then tally the votes and present the findings to our product teams. To ensure we have the most accurate data, on the 1st of the month we will be locking the threads that were listed in the Feature Request Round-up that was posted on the 15th. Once we have reviewed the submitted feature requests, our product team(s) may respond to the request, and if that is the case then that thread will then be unlocked for further discussion.

In the event that your idea is not selected for a response feel free to resubmit the idea and share it with your colleagues to garner as much exposure as possible!

Thank you again for your idea and we look forward to hearing more from you!
