Allow us to set Zoom to Fit as the default viewing option in SnagIt?

Usually when I take screenshots, I take several in a row from different angles, then I go back to look through what I've taken to select the ones I like the best. Currently, I have to go to each individual image in the viewer and choose Zoom to Fit, then I go back and scroll through all the images. It would make things much easier if there was an option in Preferences to set Zoom to Fit as the default viewing style.

Great suggestion! And Zoom to fit the ENTIRE image. Not just horizontally.

+1 on this, I'm having to do over 300 images right now that I have to scroll down the page to see the product number so I can rename the files (adding a rename within program suggestion as well)

+1, shrink to fit as default option would be really helpful.

The prior version treated users nicer than Snagit 13. PLEASE add the ability to set defaults (all over the app) to GREATLY improve UX. We were able to set "Fit to window" in Snagit 12. Taking that away was not an Improvement.

Yes please. After recent update it seems to SHRINK from original capture size and there seems to be no way to control that behavior. Back to Greenshot for me until this is fixed :(

What is the maintenance release that implemented this fix? I agree with the suggestion to be able to "set defaults (all over the app) to GREATLY improve UX". I would hate to have to suggest that out users use and have to learn Snipping Tool. Thanks

Fit to screen has been around for quite a while.

18 April, 2017: Snagit 13.1.2

With Always Shrink to Fit on, resizing Editor will adjust the zoom level. That setting will also be remembered between launches

But it was very buggy and didn't work right at times. It kept giving me problems through other updates.

In SnagIt 2018 the feature has never let me down.

Regards,Joe

You have a vote from me to add option in "Snagit Editor Preferences" to choose "default Fit to  Screen"

Personally
I want button for  Fit to Screen
To be my decision: if I needed or not.

For  default view "Fit to  Screen"
it can add an option in "Snagit Editor Preferences"  With likes to use it.

And add in Snagit Editor Preferences: (as)
  • Zoom with Scroll Wheel
  • Fit to Screen
With likes to use it.
it would help much, to zoom faster with Scroll Wheel and Fit to Screen.

Yes, for me captured images are always appearing at 50% zoom in the editor. While there is a zoom option on the toolbar below the image it takes two or more clicks for each captured image to make it 100% (or whatever). It would be nice to have a tool default zoom preference for captured images and/or an easier one click way to set either 100%, Fit to page, etc.

Totally agree. I recently updated from an older version and it is frustrating that I need to adjust every image I capture to a larger view than the default. Allowing users to set a preference for the default would be great.

Hi - when is the release that will allow zoom to fit to be the default?
Thank you

Please, please allow us to set a default. If not, perhaps a one-click zoom option. Having to click the zoom percentage, then click or drag... this is really horrible.

100% agree on this -- inability to set a default (and the default behavior of scaling down to 70% or whatever is really bad) is a big regression.

Please let us set a default or use zoom-to-fit by default.  This slows me way down and is critical to your customers' productivity. I agree that this is a huge regression!

This is what bugs me, new features I'd never used are crammed down my throat but something that makes complete sense is left out of the mix. So incredibly frustrating, kills my workflow.

I'm definitely frustrated to always have to zoom in on my captures because they are small in the editor window. It doesn't make sense not to have a zoom to fit as a default setting. Please fix this, TechSmith. Thank you!

Has this been fixed or it there a plan to do so? I still see the problem in 13.1.1.

This thread was started THREE years ago.  One year ago, a TechSmith employee popped in to say that adding zoom to fit as a default would be in an upcoming maintenance release.  Still not fixed, yet when I go to check for any updates, I see that TechSmith wants me to shell out money to go to SnagIt 2018.

Sorry, that is not the answer TechSmith. Fix the problems with the versions you still have available and show us that you are not only listening, but acting on the issues being raised.  Then and only then will we know that you really care about the customer.
