I am trying to create a simulation for my users which allows the use of hot spots for basic clicking to advance, but in some fields I want the user to be able to type the information needed to advance, how can I do that?

I do not believe what you want to do is possible

I'm curious, how do you envision typed text controlling the video's advancement?

In Captivate I was able to perform this task.  It was great for systems training, since we could scrub or cover the field that held proprietary information, then just allow the user to type in what we directed them to and then allow them to advance.  I was able to perform in other systems, but I am new to Camtasia and thought I would ask here.

Indeed before I saw the activity on this thread I was about to reply and suggest that if this type of thing is what you are wanting, Adobe Captivate (and possibly Articulate Story Line) may be more suited to this activity.

While they do accomplish similar things in similar ways, Camtasia is definitely not Captivate (nor would I expect it to be).

Cheers... Rick :)
