Lets see if I understand your request.
If you're referring to using a media player as a plug-in, so you can view a video you're still editing. One that has not been published.
No, you cannot. All you can do is produce the video.Playing/opening the video in the media player of your choice.
You could produce selected portions of the video. So you don't have to render the entire project. To me, that's a less than desirable workflow.Wasting a lot of your time in the long run.

I'm guessing the request is this:

I know that there are many media players out there. I believe one of the more popular players is named JWPlayer. I'm only aware of its existence and I have never configured one before, but I might imagine it involves configuring it with different options for presenting your video.

So if I'm understanding this request, it would be to offer some way within Camtasia to somehow include the player code (in this hypothetical case, JWPlayer) so that once things were finished, all the code is set up in a folder and ready to drop into a web site.

Theoretically, it would stand to reason that one might be able to hijack the functions of the process that builds the Camtasia output file set when including the player so that they would instead include the alternate code, but short of having one of the Camtasia development team pop in to advise if it's actually possible, I'm going to say it's just a working theory at this point.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks for your responses,

The request was the media player as in the ability to pause, play, rewind, table of contents etc. is is possible to use an alternative media player controller, from the default HTML 5 smart player?

Sorry if i'm not speaking sense, I'm very much a newbie, only been using camtasia a few week and no knowledge of video editing prior.

Hi Marc,

The TechSmith Smart Player is the only media player that supports the table of contents, hotspots, captions, SCORM and quizzing features that are available with Camtasia. If you want to use any of those features than the answer to your question is no.

If you publish your video to YouTube or Vimeo you'll be using the media player that those hosting services provide.  But you will not being using any of the features listed above.

If you are just interested in viewing the video without any of those features, then the video output will work great with any other media player.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Ben
