This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Can you save a capture to editor AND place on clipboard in Snagit?

LICENSED SNAGIT USER SINCE 4.3

I am, once again, asking for an option to output to both the clipboard AND the editor at the same time.

Yes, I can create two profiles, but that really does not solve the problem, either.

The editor gives you annotation choices, among other things, however, NOT all captures need to be edited, YET, some do, BUT ...

> if you leave the editor OFF then you lose the opportunity when you need it.

> If you leave the editor ON, but do not need it, you cannot simply paste in the image without first going to the editor.

'cmon what gives? with all the features you have in there how can you possibly object to an "always copy to clipboard" check box option?

I would really like to support you with yet another upgade, but let's be honest, 6.1 was the best version for image only, and 9 for annotations (but then the conundrum documented, again, above).

PLEASE give me a reason to upgrade!

Hello Milton,

I'm afraid we do not have a function that quite meets your needs in Snagit 11. Your assesment was spot on - you could either create 2 profiles, or have a profile that always shows the editor first, but we do not have a way to put every capture on the clipboard as you have described. I would encourage you to share this with our developers and the TechSmith community.

Feature requests, feedback and other suggestions are something that help us out immensely, because it allows us to gear our products in a way that fill the needs of our users. While I will pass on any suggestions you may have, it is best to use the following link - it is a page that logs your request to our development team, and they can read it directly themselves:

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,

Hi all - I see the value in the workflow you describe and, as a Snagit user, I agree that we could make this easier without trade-offs.

I did discover a workaround/hack that might be helpful in the meantime. You can create a custom profile that sends the capture to the clipboard and to the editor (via the "Program" output). This workflow requires only one keyboard shortcut to execute and is not interrupted by the "Done" button. It does, however, give the editor window the focus, which I try to alleviate by moving that window mostly off-screen.

Here are the steps, if you care to give it a try: http://www.screencast.com/t/rDCz30TIjJr

I apologize in advance for the audio quality; I'll be ordering a mic soon. :)

Hi folks - just a quick update on this to let you know we're planning to deliver improved copy-to-clipboard support in a future release. It would basically be a setting that you could toggle on or off...or include in a profile.
