Annoying Floating Capture Window in SnagIt 13

I have always had SnagIt set to run with Windows, and OneClick too, which can be conveniently dragged out of the way at the screen edge until needed.   However in SnagIt 13 I find that the Floating Capture Window always pops up in centre screen when SnagIt starts.  This is very annoying as there is no way to stop it (other than not start SnagIt).  I will take the latter option and not run SnagIt unless I absolutely need it, or possibly revert to an earlier version.

You can set the Snagit shortcuts to minimize when you startup.

There are two shortcuts in the following locations:
Normal: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\TechSmith
Startup with Windows: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Right click on the Snagit 13 shortcut(s), choose Properties, and then choose "Run: Minimized".  The next time you start, Snagit UI will no longer display when launching.

I think if you:
1. Unpin the current program
2. Follow the instructions above
3. Right click on the shortcut and choose "Pin to Taskbar".
It should work.

Excellent - that works!   I think there ought to be a check-box in the programs UI, along with "Start with Windows" etc to allow this option.
Thanks for help.

I think is enough two Setting in
Snagit Capture Preferences:

"Stay Minimized always in taskbar."
"Stay Minimized always in Tray"

Not all want to be in same place.
So, we can choose place which we like.
It is very easy to use and find.

Mr. Tim what you say can be done.

So I have version 13.1.1 which has the annoying floating window issue, how do I get version 13.0.2 if this addresses the issue?  I'm getting so tired of it I want to roll back to the older version.

Hello denise,

You should be able to check for updates. The install should launch for you.

Any SnagIt "Help" menu has "Check For Updates"

If that doesn't work for some reason you can download the update manually.

You can download and install a new or an older version from this link.
