Any help?

Hi, I am trying to edit a video in Camtasia Studio 8*I have used 7 before. When I try I am met with a Clip Speed could not be applied. The clip may be too close to another clip or clip speed was set to a value very close to the current settings. Trying to reduce the video speed to 50% for about a 10 to 15 seconds of a specific clip of the video, which is 7 minutes long or so. I have tried splitting the audio, which removes the 50% limit, but does not remove this error. It is driving me insane, as I can not continue editing, as I have no reduce speed option for clips. It will, however, allow me to reduce or speed the entire clip, which is not what I want. Google only lead me to these forums, Stonewalled for 2 days now. Any help? Thanks

Hi there

Try moving the clip to a different layer. My thought is that if you slow it down, it will play longer. There likely isn't enough room for the longer clip to fit. If it's on a layer of its own, it should then work.

Cheers... Rick :)

To add to Rick's excellent advise, if you want to make a clip shorter, you have to increase the clip speed. This can seem a bit counter-intuitive until you get the concept.

If you decrease the clip speed, the clip will be longer and you'll need to make more room for it.

I suggest making a practice project where you can experiment with this (and other things). I've found that really helpful.
