i don't see any recent posts/comments regarding making a shape with a dotted line... Have there been any new developments? I really need this functionality!

I have the most recent update from SnagIt and the only options for shape i have shown in the screenshot below.

I jhave never noticed that omission before but now I know about it, it's going to drive me nuts.

And all it needs is the same line style control that lines and arrows have:

It wouldn't hurt to also apply it to call out box borders

Windows users have been requesting this for at least 6 years. https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/allow_dotted_and_dashed_lines_for_shapes

I wouldn't hold your breath.

+1 from me.
Paul's implementation sounds like the tools for it are already in place

Paul -

So sorry to uncover yet another "so easy but why isn't it there" incident we find in software these days! I work in IT - seems lately more concern is what 'new' they can dream up while the common sense functionality is forgotten!

I'm even closer to their coal face - I'm a software product manager.  This is the kind of thing that really winds me up.  Why WOULDN'T you apply the same line style options to ALL the line styles in the product.  The hard bit is "inventing" it the first time.  The easy peasy bit is reusing the same code somewhere.

But you're right Michelle, it isn't "shiny"

Well, michelle v and everyone else

Yeah, funny part is. The functionality goes way back.

Here's SnagIt 9. Which was initially released in Oct of 2008. So, 9.5 years ago.
Dashed lines and arrows was a feature.

So what we seem to have here is a bullheaded TechSmith.

Clearly, their not interested in bringing dashed shapes  to Windows users.

If you want Dots instead? Well, I think you can fill in the blanks.

STILL SO FRUSTRATING... Techsmith if very aware of this functionality ommission but has yet to correct or implement a solution.

I don't know of any other software or app that has drawing ability that does not allow you to easily create a shape with more than a 'single line' style!

Even the simplest android based apps allow you to use a dotted line. For all of Techsmith's boasts about their great, modern apps..... how could they continue to leave this out with all the feedback they are getting???  Anyone with any development experience at all knows that this is not difficult functionality!!

Has anyone heard any type of feedback from Techsmith??

Outside of this forum, i sent in a help ticket to Techsmith in April... Below is my answer along with the surprise that they marked the ticket solved!?! It obviously wasn't, and hasn't been, solved.  I plan on following up but it is preposturous that they are holding tight on their inaction to fix this!
