Hey Rococco,

We haven't talked too much about that, but let's get the conversation started.

First, are you looking for a true "Save as..." option, or would you just prefer that the files that are automatically saved to Drive were in the .jpg format?

Second, what's causing you to need .jpg files instead of .pngs?

IMHO a "Save as..." option would be ideal...both .jpg and .png.

There certain instances where I cannot use a .png file, so the option would be beneficial.

Thanks for the feedback Rococco!

If you don't mind sharing, what are some examples of instances where it would be beneficial for you to have a version of your capture in .JPG format vs. Google Drive? For example, we have heard before that some people are hoping to include an attached image in an e-mail; are there other examples that you could think of?

Thanks again!

I am trying to take a screen shot to upload to USPS.com. They will not accept .png format. Only .jpg or .pdf. I need to be able to save in .jpg format also.

OMG! I am having the same issue. I need to send a screen shot of a discounted hotel rate to the hotel so they will match the price. I had to take a picture of the screen shot and upload/download whatever it's called. Pictures are saved in a format that works with sending a screen shot. HELP! How do I change to jpg or pdf?
PS Make any replies as simple as possible, PLEASE!

Here's what works for me. Take a screen shot. To do this you can take a screen shot of either the whole page or just a part of the page.
For whole page:  Press Ctrl + window switcher key
For just part of the page: Press Crtl + Shift + window switcher key  (a + will appear. Click the mouse pad where you want to start drawing your box. Move the cursor until you get the entire area you want to capture. Then release the mouse.)

The screen shot will be saved to your google drive. Just click box that appears at the lower right and it will take you to wherever the file was saved.

Next you need to convert the .png screen shot to .jpg or whatever you need. Go to this website: https://www.coolutils.com/online/image-converter/ to convert the image online.

Step 1: click "select files" button. Select the .png file you saved earlier.
Step 2: select whatever file type you want to convert to. You can also resize or rotate the image if needed.
Step 3: Download the converted file you created.

Thank you for the reply. I thought I had it but got an Error 524: A timeout occurred. The hotel accepted my picture, so I'm good for now but this is so frustrating. There are many things I am unable to open on this Chromebook. It says to add something from Chrome store. I have no idea what to add.

Just right-click on the file and change the name. Replace png for jpg, and voila!
