Apply animation to only only one layer

Using Camtasia 20.19 (etc)
Whenever I apply an animation (such as zoom in) to one layer, the animation also appears on layers above below it -- unless I lock those other layers.

I'm sure there must be a method so the animation only appears on the selected layer.  I've tried holding control (etc) but that doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestions?  (I looked at Camtasia's hot key page, but couldn't find anything there...   Any suggestions -- locking other layers every time can't be the only way to do it?????  Surely I'm missing something very obvious!

If you want to make changes like zoom to just one layer.
You want to apply a custom animation to that layer.
You can drag and drop one in.
Or select the media and use the shortcut "Shift + A"

Then use the properties panel and canvas controls/handles/etc. To change that one element.
