Are there plans to fix the copy and paste issue in one of these new versions? It doesn't matter, it breaks in all versions, all the TIME!

Copy and paste what and to where? I am not having trouble with it in the editor if that is where you are talking about.
What exactly is going on so I can test it with you

How exactly do you do a copy? a paste? Keyboard shortcuts or via the editor menu? How or what gets broken?

I've had 4 versions since v8  and have never had a problem. Have you tried a different keyboard?

Like Ed, I've had many versions (started at 9 and every one since) and have had no issues. You'll need to be more specific about where you are trying to copy from and where you are pasting to.

Like IT User I have all sorts of issues:
  • I take a screen capture
  • I edit, or not, the image in Snagit editor
  • I hit control C or right-click Copy
  • When I paste using control V or right-click Paste nothing is there.
My new approach:
  • I take a screen capture
  • I edit, or not, the image in Snagit editor
  • I hit control C or right-click Copy multiple times
  • I paste using control V or or right-click Paste.
  • Sometimes it works and sometimes I have to hit control C or right-click Copy multiple times
This needs a proper solution.

Note that in the SnagIt EDITOR, you see a difference between simple Copy, and Copy All.

The reason being, you are able to Copy items used in the editor for pasting elsewhere while Editing.

Copy All is intended if you want to copy the entire image along with all adjustments and annotations for pasting elsewhere.

Also note there is a Copy All button in the upper right corner of the editor.

I'd bet you are really wanting what Copy All offers.

Cheers... Rick :)

Rick - is "Ctrl-Shift-C" equivalent to Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C. More importantly, why set different key sequences than what Windows uses by default. For example - Pause is a Windows key, why does Camtasia need "F9", (I know this is a Camtasia Q, but it now appears TS developers came from the Mac world and don't know how to adjust...?)

Hi Ed

Indeed, I'd say that the Ctrl+A/Ctrl+C would be the logical equivalent.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that when working in the Editor, it's often the case that you need to copy one specific element. So that's my best educated guess as to why the difference in key sequences there.

But in the end, only TechSmith can speak to that with any real authority. Everything else is just speculation based on what we see, eh? ;)

As for the Camtasia stop and start keys, I'm not really sure. But it does seem there is some kind of a standard there. Before I retired, I was an Adobe certified Captivate instructor. Captivate works in many ways. Like Camtasia, it records screen activity. One way of recording this activity is like "PowerPoint on steroids". Each screen action results in a static image of your screen being captured and set as the background of the "slide". And you have other elements that are added to make it LOOK like a video when played back. But there is another mode of recording with Captivate where it's a LOT like Camtasia. The "Full Motion Video" type of recording.

I said all that to point out that in Adobe Captivate, you also have the same keys Camtasia uses to stop and start the full motion recording.

So based on that, it seems to me it's perhaps a standard? I'm not sure. I never really thought about it that much and just accepted it for what it was.

Cheers... Rick :)

I too am experiencing the problem with Copy All.  It worked for a while and then just stopped working. I'm currently running a licensed version of Snagit 2020 but the same thing happened in my 2019 version.
