Are Camtasia recordings backward compatible?

@techsmith can I import & edit .camrec files in Camtasia 7 that are captured w/ Camtasia 8? I have 7.1.1: media properties not retrievable

Alright, I guess I misspoke.

So, I think our official response is that Camtasia Studio 8.0 recordings *should* work in CS7, provided you have the TSC2 codec installed. We did some basic testing in house, and though we do not recommend that workflow, it should be supported.

For machines without CS8 installed, you will need the TSC2 codec, which can be found here:

Note that the TSC2 codec can only be used to *decode* CS8 recordings. You can not use the new codec in older versions of the software for encoding.
