Aspect Ratio Problem with Imported Videos

When I import some MOV or MP4 video files into Camtasia 9, they look like this (see image). It appears the aspect ratio is messed up. These are not converted files. I have no idea what is causing this problem or how to fix it.

And this is what it looks like when I resize it.

The video plays fine in Windows Media Player and iTunes, so I guess I could just record it.

I'm a rookie, so please forgive my ignorance if there's an easy fix.

check project settings

you may have to manually set the dimensions to the correct value?

Hi Brad;

Have you tried the steps listed in the Support Article that we have covering the topic of squished or stretched videos? You can find it here.

Thanks for posting that Robert.  It was certainly interesting and educational.

I don't know if Mike, who helped me several times in the past is still at Techsmith, but even if only a lurker now, thanks!

That fixed it. Thank you! Sadly, I'm going to have to do this quite often.
