Try capture again
Same results, video but not audio.
Try saving capture as mp4 anyway and playback from alternate video player
Try capture again. Noting that the green microphone icon/area/control at the bottom of the capture screen is active...I note a horizontal indicator moving in concert with my voice like a VU meter might.
Record again "test test test," I say
Playback in editor and observe again there is no audio.
Save as mp4 again...no audio.
Google the problem some more
Go to YouTube and play a video at random to make sure audio in computer works. Audio works fine.
Look at clock...realize that my simple task of this morning, to record a 1 minute video has now gone past an hour.
Note uptick in agitation level. Begin vocalizing the very bad words that have been forming in my head over the past 45 minutes or so. The raving voices begin...why is it so often like this with technology...John Steinbeck wrote "The Grapes of Wrath" on yellow legal pads with #2 pencils...never had to check for new version of pad, or fiddle with privacy settings of pencil. Vow to just abandon all technology, move to Katmandu and study with the monks.
Seek help.
So what is preventing the capture of audio from my built-in MacBook Pro microphone? How may we solve this problem together, in the spirit of cooperation, community and advanced levels of technical wizardry?
Me spending my entire morning trying to get audio with my video

Me holding my phone cam up showing how I make a video capture.
The video I captured while recording the video above.
